Parking Lot ProceduresEnter through the west gate by the marquee--you may no longer enter at the east end of the parking lot.Exit east gate--you can turn both left and right onto Hillcrest.Blue curb is for drop off or pick up only. (PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE UNATTENDED)Please use the crosswalk and wait for the duty teacher to cross you.Never drop students off along Hillcrest, 71st Ave., or in no stopping zones. Kinder parents PLEASE use the crosswalk Parents need to move as far down the blue line as possible to help with parking lot congestion.

First Day PacketsPlease return all forms requiring information and signatures by Friday, August 11th! Please include your email address. Copper Creek is Green!

Front Office ProceduresNew safety feature—Perimeter camerasJust a reminder….Office staff will check the ID and buzz visitors through the doors to access nurse, media center, cafeteria, and classrooms. Please refrain from escorting your child to the classroom after the first day.

Arrival Procedures **PLEASE do not drop students off before 8:15am! No supervision!****Students having breakfast are permitted 15 minutes earlier.** 8:15—Gates open, students walk to the playground and line up at the designated grade level area. Duty teachers will greet the students on the playground. Kindergarten-Parents will escort kinder students to the kinder gate using the crosswalk or drop off at kinder blue line. (Per District Policy, parents may not be on the playground or in the classrooms.) 8:20 —Teachers escort students from the playground to the classroom. 8:30 - Please avoid being tardy! Gates are locked starting at 8:30am. Students will be required to go to the office.

Dismissal Procedures3:15- Students exit through the front of the building to walk home or be picked up. First grade will wait for parents inside the gate. Kindergarten will be a handoff at the kinder gate just a few minutes before 3:15 pm. Bus riders exit to the bus area. NEW: Students will not be released from school or given phone messages after 3:00pm due to end of the day procedures taking place in the classrooms to ensure Safety.

Student SafetyAll gates will be locked during the school day. Visitors must sign in at the front office and wear a visitor’s sticker.Fire drills are practiced monthly. Lockdowns are practiced quarterly. All doors are locked!Students may not be signed out during a lockdown or fire drill.All volunteers must attend training before going into classrooms or attending field trips. (Dates for trainings coming soon!) Evacuation Location: Deer Valley High School

District PolicyAll volunteers must complete the district training. This is required for working in the classroom and going on field trips.Training dates at Copper Creek will be released soon.Siblings may not attend classroom parties or be present when parent is volunteering. This is a district policy. Siblings are welcome to attend awards assemblies, field day, and lunch when with their guardian.

PBISWhat is it?The Positive Behavior Intervention System model (PBIS) is a program that we use at Copper Creek to support positive behavior in students. .PAWS is a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment.

Sanford HarmonyWhat is it?It is a social emotional learning program that Copper Creek will use to help cultivate strong relationships with others and it is designed to make a difference in how students think about and treat each other. This program includes lessons and activities to help students communicate, problem solve, and build peer relationships.

Let’s Be Prompt CampaignSchool begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and it is our goal at Copper Creek for all students to be present and ready to learn at the start of each school day. Please help our campaign by ensuring that your child arrives at school promptly with the appropriate materials. Thank you!

Friendly PinesDates: April 24th – April 26thStudents will be focusing on team building, problem solving, and cooperation. Payments - checks will be made out to Copper Creek. Remember, whatever you pay for your child's trip before December 31 st, can be used toward your school tax credit

Friendly Pines ChaperonesAll Chaperone forms need to be turned in NO later than Friday, September 1st.Volunteer class has to be completed by the end of October.Training dates can be found on the district website.Fingerprint information will be sent to chaperones.
