Biggest problem at the time:
Absence of permanent building
Housed in a two-storey shophouse at 77, Pudu Road – in 1923 with 84 students, the school was “ full and overflowing ”( PES operated in a shop-house at Pudu Road in 1925. Picture showing students buying biscuits from the breadman )

With the help from volunteers – the flat , swampyland, full of large holes and tree stumps was drained and a single-storey building of 4 classrooms was
built in

A road leading to the school was named Foss

2-storey block, comprises 3 classrooms and a science lab on the ground floor and a hall on the first floor
The block was officiated by Sir Shenton Thomas, Governor of Straits Settlement at that time.
