Nate's Bike Rideby Geri Murray
Slide2"Let's take a hike or ride bikes," Tim said to Nate.
“Hikes tire me,” said Nate as he sat by the T.V., "and I hate to ride my bike."
Slide3I can’t sit like you all day,” said Tim. Tim left while Nate sat and played with his snake Jake.
Nate needs help," Tim said to Jan.
Jan said, "He will whine if you ask him to hike or bike. You have to trick him to get him to play. Let's think of a way."
Then Tim made a plan. "I think I can get Nate to ride with us. I will get my kite, and I will let him ride my bike. He will like to make the kite rise in the sky. Then he will not stay in and sleep all day."
Tim and Jan got the kite. "Let's go in and get Nate. We can not tell him why," said Jan.
Slide7Nate waked up from his nap when Tim said, "Nate, you have to see this. Quick!”
Nate was tired, but he got up to see what Tim had. "Oh, no," he said. "I think I'll go back in. I don’t ride bikes.”
Tim got on the bike. "See, Nate? Let it glide. The kite line slides in your hand as you ride the bike. The kite will rise. You will be fine. Please, Nate. Just try."
Jan and Tim gaped as Nate got on the bike with the kite.
"Yikes!” said Nate as the bike left the drive for the street. “This is nice!” He let the kite rise high in the sky.
Tim jumped on Jan’s bike to chase Nate. "This is fun!" Tim yelled. "Nate may not hike, but he will ride bikes."
Tim met Nate on the bike trail. Nate smiled. "That was quite a ride. I liked it! Let's ride on," said Nate. "That kite must be a mile up in the sky!”
“I can not get it to rise like that," said Tim. "Say, Nate, do you like to camp?"
"Yes, if we can bring the TV in the tent," Nate said with a grin.
