(READ)-Building Dialogue POMDPs from Expert Dialogues An end-to-end approach (SpringerBriefs: Transcript
This book discusses the Partially Observable Markov Decision Process POMDP framework applied in dialogue systems It presents POMDP as a formal framework to represent uncertainty explicitly while supporting automated policy solving The authors propose and implement an endtoend learning approach for dialogue POMDP model components Starting from scratch they present the state the transition model the observation model and then finally the reward model from unannotated and noisy dialogues These altogether form a significant set of contributions that can potentially inspire substantial further work This concise manuscript is written in a simple language full of illustrative examples figures and tables. This book presents practical information on the clinical applications of short pulse laser systems and the techniques for optimizing these applications in a manner that will be relevant to a broad audience, including engineering and medical students as well as researchers, clinicians, and technicians. Short pulse laser systems are useful for both subsurface tissue imaging and laser induced thermal therapy (LITT), which hold great promise in cancer diagnostics and treatment. Such laser systems may be used alone or in combination with optically active nanoparticles specifically administered to the tissues of interest for enhanced contrast in imaging and precise heating during LITT. Mathematical and computational models of short pulse laser-tissue interactions that consider the transient radiative transport equation coupled with a bio-heat equation considering the initial transients of laser heating were developed to analyze the laser-tissue interaction during imaging and therapy. Experiments were first performed to characterize the tissue optical properties needed to optimize the dose for thermal therapy. Experiments were then performed on animal models to characterize the heat affected zone for LITT. The experimental measurements were also validated using the computational models. Standard: . This book presents state of art research in speech emotion recognition. Readers are first presented with basic research and applications 8211 gradually more advance information is provided giving readers comprehensive guidance for classify emotions through speech. Simulated databases are used and results extensively compared with the features and the algorithms implemented using MATLAB. Various emotion recognition models like Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) Regularized Discriminant Analysis (RDA) Support Vector Machines (SVM) and K-Nearest neighbor (KNN) and are explored in detail using prosody and spectral features and feature fusion techniques. In this brief the authors discuss recently explored spectral (sub-segmental and pitch synchronous) and prosodic (global and local features at word and syllable levels in different parts of the utterance) features for discerning emotions in a robust manner. The authors also delve into the complementary evidences obtained from excitation source vocal tract system and prosodic features for the purpose of enhancing emotion recognition performance. Features based on speaking rate characteristics are explored with the help of multi-stage and hybrid models for further improving emotion recognition performance. Proposed spectral and prosodic features are evaluated on real life emotional speech corpus. This volume covers key topics in the field from a variety of leading researchers. In one volume readers gain exposure to several perspectives in the areas of corpus annotation and analysis dialogue system construction theoretical perspectives on communicative intention context-based generation and modeling of discourse structure. Based on the 2nd SIGdial workshop on Discourse and Dialogue held in conjunction with Eurospeech 2001 it is of interest to researchers and practitioners in dialogue and discourse processing.
