1) Connotations of my costume:
Lace
dress – Though the dress is white, it will appear black on the poster because I will use Photoshop. Lace is stereotypically considered feminine hence the audience will see the character as a femme fatale. In addition, the use of lace tends to appear on dresses from the past, therefore having the antagonist wear a lace dress suggests that she is a humanoid from olden days such as the Victorian Era. This implies that she’s a powerful supernatural organism hence empowering her and showing the audience that she’s a threat.
Flower headpiece – Flower accessories are usually seen as innocent and pure, but this headpiece will be used to create a contrast mood, since the accessory is black which connotes danger and evil, it’ll create a femme fatale (fallen women) character.

Genre conventions:
A lace dress creates the appearance of a humanoid/spirit from the Victorian time, this is similar to the usual spirit in paranormal horror movies. In paranormal horror movies, the ghost is often a lingering spirit holding an ancient grudge, this dress will give the antagonist that image hence suitable for this poster.
The flower headpiece gives the impression of a femme fatale which is a conventional character of the horror genre because they tend to be unforgiving due to their past and what caused their downfall.
3) Film narrative
This
costume reveals the narrative because it, overall, has a Victorian style therefore implying that the antagonist is involved to the past, it also suggests that the narrative will involve having to solve a mystery and find out why the antagonist exists
.

Character:
The elements of lace and flower connotes that this antagonist is a female and rather feminine. Lace connotes sophistication and maturity, it hints that the antagonist is an adult and that she is old therefore she, most probably, is a rational person and that she has a reason for her actions. The dress will be black which suggests that this character is dangerous and most likely to be the antagonist.
