Presentation Transcript

The 2006 Mataro was aged in French oak, 15% new. Purple/black colored, the brooding nose reveals tar, forest floor notes, and blackberry. Thick and layered, on the palate this full-bodied wine is surprisingly forward although it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring. Drink it over the next ten years. Rudderless is owned by Doug Govan, major domo of The Victory Hotel, a superb pub and restaurant that is a must-visit for wine tourists in McLaren Vale. His winemaker is Justin McNamee of Samuel’s Gorge. The grapes are sourced from vineyards Govan planted on the hillsides surrounding his pub. Each cuvee is limited to 100 cases.Rating: 91Maturity: Drink 2009 - 2019Cost: US $55 Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CASource: Wine Advocate #181 Feb 2009Reviewer: Jay Miller 2006 Rudderless Matarowww.rudderlesswines.com.au
