Affectionately known as the Dndelion the fountains brass starburst of pipes sprays joers cyclists and do walkers offerin a cool respite from Houstons heat. \f One of Buffalo Bayous most popular destinations is the do park. Plans are underway to incorporate infrastructure (makin this park official) and amenities to be completed in . \n  \n  nless you know its there Green Tree Nature Trail may be difficult to find. Located just south of emorial Drive at auh Drive the heavily forested trail is a nature-lovers deliht. On any iven day you will find birds squirrels and even a rabbit or two. Buffalo Bayou Partnership and volunteers have been restorin this wild natural area by removin invasive species and restorin the nature preserve with native trees and veetation. \f\b\f\n You can cross this unique pedestrian bride at two levels. Be sure to pause and enjoy the dramatic view of the bayou and downtown skyline. The bride provides a valuable pedestrian connection to trails and neihborhoods to the north of emorial Drive as well as to Spotts and Cleveland parks to the west.  \b\r \bAt the base of the Rosemont Bride are Spanish artist Jaume Plensas Tolernce sculptures. The seven human fiures representin the worlds seven continents are composed of stainless steel alphabet letters from many lanuaes. Restin on lare boulders the fiures low at niht creatin a constellation of beacons The sculptures encourae joers and bicyclists to pause and consider our citys dynamic diversity.  \n\f\f \r\tNo other site takes advantae of the bayous natural beauty more than -acre Glenwood Cemetery. Desined as one of Houstons first public spaces Glenwood continues to deliht its visitors with its lush ardens and ornately decorated headstones. Perhaps the most famous person buried at this site is the late billionaire Howard Huhes. A walk throuh Glenwood definitely takes you back in time! Henry oore Located on a prominent knoll is British sculptor Henry oores piece. The cast bronze abstract sculpture was oriinally part of oores series which was placed in Londons Hyde Park. \f\b\f\n \f \r \f\r\b \f Jesus Butist oroles Visit Texas artist Jesus oroles Police emorial and pay your respects to more than  policemen whose lives were lost in the line of duty. Shaped like a pyramid the sculpture symbolizes a royal tomb. The Police emorial and surroundin rounds uarded  hours a day are the site of an annual procession and wreath-layin ceremony.  Linne Gltt nd Frncis Thompson This sculpture is a   piece constructed of alvanized steel set in a concrete slab. The seatin and visual imaes reflect issues of human rihts freedom of expression and historic and contemporary concerns. It has the form of a house but is completely open to the elements and viewin from all sides.  \t \tHouston landscape architect Charles Tapley desined this inspirational site in the late s to feature a bayou tributary riparian plantins ranite steps and seatin areas. Recent improvements by Buffalo Bayou Partnership include a wetland native Texas prairie and small pedestrian bride. Besides bein a place to picnic and to view the downtown skyline Tapley and other nearby tributaries have become wonderful outdoor learnin centers.  \n\f \n\b \t Named in honor of the late City Councilmember and civic activist Eleanor Tinsley the park is home to our citys annual Fourth of July celebration and other lare-scale festivals and events. The Jane Greory Garden (just west of the Henry oore sculpture) offers a welcome urban etaway while a boat dock provides easy access for canoeists and kayakers. ith its slopin hills and deep ravines Eleanor Tinsley Park is one of Houstons most popular outdoor spaces for recreation and relaxation. A major hike and bike trail winds its way throuh the parks  acres.   tthew Geller Open Chnnel Flow features a public outdoor shower activated by a hand pump. A nearby skatepark ensures that a steady flow of skaters and passersby will indule in a refreshin spritz on Houstons infamously humid afternoons.  & \f  \bRidin bowls rindin rails and cuttin throuh the larest cradle in the world are just some of the fancy footwork you will see at the Lee & Joe Jamail Skatepark. In  the Houston Ship Channel opened to deep water naviation. The channel in combination with the railroads transformed the East End into the industrial heart of our city. Buffalo Bayou Partnership has purchased property and developed hike and bike trails that eventually will extend all the way to the Port of Houston. Also underway are the development of parks boatin activities and other open space amenities. \r \b Painted aquamarine purple and lavender cKee Street Bride adds a splash of color to the bayou landscape. Built in  the structure is the lonest unreinforced concrete bride in the world. Local artist Kirk Farris is responsible for transformin the bride into a piece of public art. \b  Steeped in Houston history James Bute Park is the oriinal site of Germantown and Frost Town two early immirant neihborhoods. In the s Houston artist Kirk Farris transformed the once abandoned site into a park. A Texas Historical arker displayed in the park officially desinates Frost Town as an historic site. The park is named for the late James Bute a Houston entrepreneur and nearby park resident.     ariachi and salsa music ballet folklorico and seasonal festivals are amon the sihts and sounds that fill Guadalupe Plaza Park. Just east of Jensen Drive you will discover massive concrete ravel silos. These tall structures not only are important interpretive landscape elements but the canvas for imainative public art events. \r \b\f\b\r\bLocated halfway between Jensen Drive and North York Street you will come across two brick chimneys. These are the remnants of a City of Houston incinerator built in . \f\n\t \f\n Named after East End activist Tony arron this -acre site is comprised of soccer fields childrens playround fountain plaza picnic area and hike and bike trails.  \rThis tributary is bein restored to provide Fifth ard neihborhood residents access to Buffalo Bayou. Volunteers from Japhet Creek Civic Association have worked tirelessly to remove trash and debris from the creek while plantin wildflowers and native trees. Eventually paths on both sides of the tributary will be created. \n\f\b \b \n \r \tDecommissioned over  years ao much of the Northside Sewae Treatment Facilitys infrastructure remains. Aeration and settlin tanks compressor rooms as well as oriinal pipes and valves are intact. Buffalo Bayou Partnership plans to redevelop the site into a unique ecoloical park.  \f \n \n Buffalo Bend Nature Park is a -acre site that will ultimately offer an area to educate visitors about wetland ecosystems. Learnin stations exhibits and interpretive displays will be strateically located throuhout the park.  \f Built in  Hidalo Park is a popular East End site for Sunday picnics birthday parties and baseball ames. Neihborhood children also enjoy the parks creative wooden playround and water play station. Amon the parks treasures is a statue of Father iuel Hidalo a ift from the overnment of Jalisco exico. \b\f\r \fPerhaps the finest example of textured concrete artistry in Houston Hidalo Parks azebo was completed in . Vidal Lozano its desiner and builder fashioned concrete columns and railins to look like tree timbers the roof to represent shinles and the ceilin thatch. The azebo is a landmark in the Buffalo Bayou landscape. Lookin north from Hidalo Park you will see a beautiful section of Buffalo Bayou. In  the Allen brothers arraned for the Constitution a -foot steamboat to visit Houston to dispel doubts about the bayous naviability. Not bein able to turn around once it reached its destination the boat backed down the bayou until it reached a wide enouh bend.
