Why a boardwalk? Centuries of heavy use was damaging the fragile area. The boardwalk lets you visit but keeps the endemic plants, or plants only found here, safe. Please stay on the boardwalk!
The start of the trail
(This is the only steep part)
There are many signs along the boardwalk
It looks different up here, doesn’t it?
More signs as we hike
If you look closely, you might see animal tracks in the sand!
Don’t forget to look up too! t he moon
The boardwalk curves a little
Before getting to petroglyphs that may be thousands of years old!
Maybe we’ll do an activity here
Back on the boardwalk
You might be able to see the spring here
What a difference water can make!
We’re almost done
But first we’ll pass some butterfly lilies (and maybe a butterfly)
Just have to head back down
We made it! Now the lizard wants to hike too.
