Policy NEWS MEDIA SERVICES AT BOARD MEETINGS Code BEDI Issued DRAFT/16 Issued 3/03 Purpose: To establish the basic structure for news media notification of and attendance at board meetings. The board believes that one of t he its paramount responsibilities of a board of education is to keep the public informed of its actions. Therefore, the press and public are welcome to attend board meetings. Consequently, the local news media representativ es will be welcome to attend all regular, special, and annual meetings of the board . The superintendent will send a copy of the agenda in advance of all official board meetings to members of the working press who request it. In the event that representatives of news media are unable to attend a meeting, they will be provided a summary of i mportant board actions upon request.
