Information on my dad's life at school
Slide2Facts
My dad went to school in Cromane national school in 1971.
His school was built in 1886.
He had five teachers, their names were: Ms. O'Sullivan, Mr. mangan, Ms. Sweeney, Ms. Tuohey and Ms. Hayes, the principal.
He learned Irish with the help of pictures with sandpaper stuck on the back that stuck to a green cloth over the blackboard.
Their playground was very small, and there was no grass.
If you were naughty you used to get smacked with a leather strap, a ruler or a cane on the front of your hand.
The
desks were made of wood and there was a place for an ink pot.
Slide3Lunchtime at school
At lunchtime, my dad used to go to the shop next to the school and buy lunch there.
He brought a sandwich and then went to the shop with his friends to buy a treat.
He usually bought chewy spearmint bars and sherbet dips.
On a Wednesday, Mr. Mangan used to send one child to the shop to get a tub of vanilla ice cream and he used to eat it with a banana at
lunchtime.
