In all of these examples, you experience the interplay of language (words you see on the page) juxtaposed with both the seen and the unseen(words and blacked out words underneath.)the
spacing and order and finally the interconnected image all play together to create a new sense of the passage. If you put the two together, you will undoubtedly see and feel the difference in both emotional and intellectual reaction. Your redacted poem may take these forms:
a. as you see in the example here, you may create an image behind the text and make your choose words BOLD while making the text very opaque or extremely light. The ‘found poem’ should be able to be read clearly. You must ensure there is a frame.
b. Rewrite your poem (you may play with the suffixes and or prepositions in order to have the poem read smoothly) & draw/colour an image behind it, beside it etc. You must also give it a frame.
c. White out the extraneous words, leaving the ‘redacted poem’ able to be read. Add an image embedded, beside or behind.
