Changes this year:

Corporation Test Coordinators (CTCs) and School Test Coordinators (STCs) can complete student transfers in bulk via Enrollment Transfer Export / Import feature.Student registration will be restricted in PearsonAccessnext so that students already existing in the system must be enrolled via the Enrollment Transfer process so they can be added to a new school. Students who are new to the state can be added locally.Pearson has created an Accessibility Features and Accommodations for Student Tests Report that will be available under Operational Reports in PearsonAccessnext. When a student logs in to a test, if the Response File Backup Location is not writable, the system will provide a 1002 error indicating the teacher or test proctor needs to be notified.

9

Slide10

Changes this year:

Student Test Ticket alignment has been improved for easier processing and cutting.Easily confused characters will be removed from student test tickets (i.e. zero, O, one, L and I).Pearson will load sample students and generate test sessions for practice tests.Starting in January: Calculator Accommodations will be assigned in the Personal Needs Profile section in PearsonAccessnext. On tests with multiple sections, users will have greater visibility into student section status via the Students in Sessions user interface.New link for submitting tickets to the help desk.

Student Transfer

Manual Process:A student arrives at the new corporation. The CTC of the student’s new school corporation confirms with the student’s previous school which test section(s) the student has already completed (Examiner should also confirm with student before student takes test). The CTC collects student information, including STN, first and last name, and date of birth. Check with the previous school to confirm correct STN.The CTC goes into PearsonAccessnext and makes the transfer request using Student’s correct STN.The CTC of the student’s former school corporation approves or rejects the transfer request in PearsonAccessnext within one business day.The student test data transfers to the new corporation. The STC or CTC assigns the student to tests if needed, places the student in sessions, and resumes testing. If the previous corporation does not respond or approve within one business day, please contact Pearson to request assistance.

Local Infrastructure TrialandStatewide Readiness Test

51

Slide52

The Statewide Readiness Test (SRT) is a final check of local technology configurations and devices prior to live testing for schools that are scheduled to test online. Prior to any administration, schools are encouraged to conduct Local Infrastructure Trials.

52

Local Infrastructure Trials and Statewide Readiness Test

Slide53

A Local Infrastructure Trial is a dress rehearsal. It provides an opportunity to review your device, network, and staff readiness in a low-stakes assessment. It does not use real student information. It confirms that:TestNav is configured correctly.Devices can successfully run TestNav.Participating staff know what to do for computer-based assessment. If you encounter issues that might prevent online testing, you must contact Pearson for help with any issues.

53

Local Infrastructure Trials

Slide54

The SRT will be conducted in the PearsonAccessnext Training Site using the Infrastructure Trial forms found under the Infrastructure Trial administration. Please refer to the Indiana Online Testing Guide found on the Indiana Resource Center website: http://indiana.pearsonaccessnext.com.

Statewide Readiness Test

How is a Local Infrastructure Trial different from the Statewide Readiness Test?A Local Infrastructure Trial is a dress rehearsal of the Statewide Readiness Test, involving select staff and volunteers. Schools are encouraged to conduct a Local Infrastructure Trial before each test administration. The Statewide Readiness Test includes all schools and corporations in the state and simulates an actual peak test day for a live assessment. The Statewide Readiness Test is at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time February 7 (February 15 make-up).Guides for a Local Infrastructure Trial and the Statewide Readiness Test are found in the Indiana Online Testing Guide located at: http://indiana.pearsonaccessnext.com/.

Exited status can be resumed to allow re-entry.

Resumed status can be updated to Resume Upload status to force TestNav to check for a saved response file before resuming.

Active status may need to be updated to Resume Upload if the student’s device lost connection before sending an update request to the Pearson servers.

Best Practices in Test Management

Only create a new student if the student transfers from out of state or from a homeschool. Otherwise, utilize the student transfer process.A secondary save location is required.Starting in January, for Spring ISTEP+ 2018, Calculator Accommodations will be assigned in the Personal Needs Profile section in PearsonAccessnext. This new functionality eliminates the need for a Calculator Form Group Type. Verify students have all needed Accommodations before preparing the test sessions. Changes in a student’s PNP in PearsonAccessnext will NOT modify a test that is already prepared.

86

Slide87

Chromebook Tips

Before Testing:Set up a secondary save location in PearsonAccessnext.Check your managed Chromebook settings. Make sure your wireless access points can support the number of Chromebooks used. Please see the following sites for setup instructions and system requirements:https://support.assessment.pearson.com/display/TN/Set+Up+TestNav+on+Chrome+OShttps://support.assessment.pearson.com/display/TN/TestNav+System+RequirementsDuring Testing:Create a tracking log for testing devices.Properly exit the test after completing sections. Before wiping devices clean, ensure all tests are in completed status.

Rejected Test Attempts

Rejected Student Test Alerts are created when a scanned paper-based student test cannot be matched to a current student record in PearsonAccessnext. Some common causes for a rejected test attempt are:First and last name were reversed when gridded.Incorrect date of birth.Student Test Number (STN) is missing completely, or was gridded incorrectly. The STN must be nine digits in length, including leading zeros when applicable. The student has had a name change, but was not updated in PearsonAccessnext.Student Barcode Label was applied incorrectly.
