Clinical ResearchClinical research should not exclusively focus on data analysis; it’s important to be communicating and working with patientsIf interested in clinical research affiliated with Johns Hopkins:Search ForagerOne through the Hopkins Office of Undergraduate research (HOUR)Directly reach out to faculty at the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Bloomberg School of Public Health or Johns Hopkins Bayview

Online Learning/virtual shadowingNot “shadowing” as we traditionally think of it:Physicians and other healthcare providers teaching about their profession, sharing case studies, etc.Watch YouTube videos, take free online courses, and attend virtual seminarsDemonstrates that you are continuing to learn about healthcare, patient care, and medicineResources available through an online search of virtual shadowing or through the Pre-Professional Advising Home Page

Other ways to gain clinical experiencesEMT, Medical Assistant, or Certified Nursing AssistantIt’s great to get certifications, but then need to use the skillsCan be costly and time consuming to get certificationsGiven the demands of these jobs, they can be difficult to do if you are a full-time studentScribing Given the demands of the job, this can be difficult to do if you are a full-time student.
