Particulate

Matter (abbreviation PM) or “dust” is composed by different substances, aggregatd between them. These aggregates are divided in classes on the basis of their dimensions (in microns= 1 m= 0,001 mm)1-“Big” powder are in the range of 50-100 m to 1 mm (visible by eyes). 2- “Coarse Particles” (PM10) are those between 10 m and 2.5 m3- “Fine Particles” (PM2,5) are those between 2.5 and 0.3 m

Slide3

PM10 and PM2,5 are

very small, unvisible: one hair (left, 150x), is about 100 m; you can see comparison with PM. PM10= above, red; PM4= in the middle; PM2.5, below, the very little black point with an arrow. On the right and example of coal particles floating in the air, dimensions like PM10 and PM2.5.Remember: More the particles are small, more penetrate in the lung and blood, and the more they damage throughout your body. Tell your friends

Dangerous

Surprise ! In the mids of the house dust there are things that you wouldn't believe image In fact the indoor and outdoor dusts are formed not only by different particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5): Dust contains microbs, like bacteria and virus, moulds, humas dried cells (scurf), mites, pollens, causing allergy, infective diseases like flu, tubercolosis, ashtma, couch and other diseases. Left: Dust Acarus at microscope. Right Skin lesions caused by Acarus in the houseYou must defend yourself and your family both from pollution diseases and infectious diseases. Inform Your Friends.

Particulate

Matter and Smog: what are the differences? When in the Athmosfere, particulate matters (PM 10, 2.5) were mixed with humidity to form an aerosol (like that in fog or clouds) you have so-called SMOG, rich in different PM, in other toxic chemicals, residues of combustion, of exhausted gases etcThe smog is visible. The question is: only SMOG is dangerous for my health ? The answer is: NO ! Pollution in always toxic, even if NOT visible. Warns your family !

Slide6

Among

the polluting substances there are also: a) organic or inorganic solid chemicals, and, b) gases and volatile substancesThey are always more and more susbatnces toxic that might contaminate soil, air, water and food. The most important and dangerous are : Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde and other organic volatile compounds (VOC).. Are substances that deplete the fertility, damages the mamma, the elderly, pregnancy, the fetus and children, make tumors and vascular diseases….. Some are directly lethal, such as carbon monoxide. Many of these substances are also formed in the house (as the VOC, CO2 and CO) or close to high traffic or industrial areas. Among the polluting substances that produce chemical carcinogens and PM2,5, there is also the cigarette smoke ! Of these topics we will inform you later

Slide7

Thus

, do not forget that there is not only the powder that you see at home, or smog on the street. Among the polluting substances are hiding many invisible enemies. Many of these exceed the masks and enter in the lung and in the blood. To defend you need to choose only high-quality devices, right for your situation ! On the right: a poor-quality mask. In the inner layer, toward the mouth, the mask leaves move particles of a few microns, that aregoing to be breathe ! CHOOSE HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTS
