Writing and Form

Looking into Noda’s essay, find a passage or aspect of the writing that you particularly enjoyed, thought held power, etc…..Be prepared to explain your reasoning. What about the writing worked? What did you notice about overall form of the writing?

Consider: Ethnic background, place of origin, linguistic heritage (the way you speak) place of residence, your gender, age, occupation.How do these aspects of yourself fit together?How do they build upon each other as Noda’s elements of identity seemed to do?Consider her form: brief intro, use of sub-headings, and a concluding/strong last sentence. When Answering Questions…

Refer to author with either full name (Kesaya Noda) or by last name (Noda)- never just a first name!Answer all parts of the questionAlways use textual evidence to support claims. Each answer should include an example and citations:

Noda remembers her identity as being omnipresent as it “seemed to hurtle toward me and paste itself right in my face” (243).

For this assignment there should be three CLEAR paragraphsIntroduction: Opening statement, introduction of author and title of essay, thesis statement (last sentence). Body: Topic sentence- 2-3 examples from text plus follow up commentary after each example. Conclusion- 2-3 sentences restating thesis and ending answer. Slide6
