Synthesis, Characterization, and Investigation of
Cationic
Polypeptoids as Antimicrobials
Cationic polymers are of great interest in the biomedical field as resistance of pathogens to traditional drugs and treatments steadily rises. A series of cationic poly(a-peptoid)s with well-defined molecular weight and molecular distribution were constructed by modification of pendant propargyl groups with a variety of positively charged moieties using CuAAC chemistry. The antimicrobial potential of these cationic analogues against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria strains is presently being studied.
