2. Aim of the GameThe aim of the game is to score more points than the other team by managing to travel the ball to your opponent’s end line.

3. Players & Equipment Each team will consist of 15 players. The team will split into two sections: Forwards & Backs. The pitch consists of two dead goal areas (end zone) for each respective team. The goal post is formed in a shape of an ‘H’ and is roughly 5-6 metres apart. Studded boots can be worn along with gum shields, head guards, shoulder pads and shin pads (Safety).

6. Duration of the Game The match is split into two halves of 40 minutes each. 1 referee per match, assisted by 2 touch judges (assistant referees). A 10 minutes half-time is mandatory.

7. Kick-offEach game starts with a drop kick from the halfway line and the ball must travel 10 metres from the kick off.

8. Other Basic Rules The ball can never be passed forward. It has to be passed backwards. The player with the ball can run as much as he/she wants until tackled. A tackle cannot be made above shoulder height and by doing so will cause the referee to award a foul. The player or the ball cannot cross the side lines or else a lineout will be awarded.

9. ScoringHow can you score points? Each team can score points with 4 different methods: Try. Conversion. Penalty Kick. Drop Goal.

10. TryA try is awarded when a player places the ball down in their opponent’s dead ball area behind the goal. When this happens 5 points are awarded to your team.

11. ConversionA conversion is a free kick that the team is awarded after a try to earn 2 bonus points. A successful kick needs to pass between the upper posts and top bar on the goal.

12. Penalty KickA penalty kick will gain a team 3 points and is awarded to a team when the opposing team causes an infringement.

13. Drop GoalA drop goal can be kicked out of the hand as long as the ball bounces first and can earn a team 3 points.

14. Last but not least!SAFETY: Be careful of your surroundings. Wear protective equipment when possible. Tackles do not need to be harsh. The objective is to stop the opponent. Using correct techniques helps in keeping everybody safe. Always follow the rules!
