Hence, athletes dedicate an enormous amount of time to developing this measure. Traditionally, a primary means of training to enhance lower body power output involves performing weighed squat jumps in an upright position; however, this approach often take months to safely learn. Alternatively, weighted squat jumps may also be performed on a horizontal leg press, an approach that may be learned more quickly. To date, however, no comparisons have been made between weighted squat jumps performed in an upright and reclined position to determine the differences in muscle activity patterns and forces generated during these exercises. Therefore, the aim of this project is to examine the muscle activity and force generating characteristics of these two exercises.
