G. BABU ASST. PROFESSOR , DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH , SAVEETHA ENGINEERING COLLEGE , CHENNAI . ABSTRACT Mahesh Dattani i s a Modern Indian playwright and is one of the most outstanding practitioners of performing art. Mahesh Dattani is one of the famous Indian – English playwrights. He has successfully launched the Indian theater in English. In many of his plays, he deals wi th various issues like homo sexuality, gender discrimination, communalism and child sexual abuse. This paper is a modest attempt to study the invisible issues and deals with discord in marriage arising out of conflicting expectations of a man and a woman f rom marriage, and as a result of the corrosiveness of materialistic yearning. Dattani has unveiled the true colour of women in India and worldwide through the historical character with the ironical parallel. The play deals with the clash between traditiona l and contemporary cultures which has created a new social landscape. KEY WORD S : B ravely fight , the women .
