OSU has handled Reverse Transfer a couple of ways:The two-year institution provides us with a list of potential students;OROSU provides two-year institutions with a list of potential studentsOption 2 is what we do with Columbus State!Who are we?Slide4
The OSU-generated ProcessOESAR produces a list of current students who meet the ODHE criteria for Credit When It’s DueStudents are emailed to seek their permission to release their transcript to CSCC (about 2 weeks)After two weeks, the database closes and the consenting students are pulled into a spreadsheet/transcript request templateThe request template is sent to Credentials and transcripts are sent to CSCCThe template is also shared with CSCC so they know how many students to expectWhat is Transfer Credit?Slide5
The OSU-generated Process ContinuedFrom our perspective, it’s all over but the waiting…Once we submit the transcripts to Credentials, we wait to hear back from CSCC about which students earned a degreeWhen we have that information, we enter the degree earned into our SIS so the student will not be pulled into the eligibility file in the futureThe process starts all over again the next semesterWhat is Transfer Credit?Slide6
What about the National Student Clearinghouse?The process with the NSC is similar to what we have done with CSCC: four-year institutions provide the two-year institutions with potentially eligible studentsThe biggest difference is that the NSC transmits course data – NOT transcripts – and it is in pipe delimited formatExchanges through the NSC between two-year and four-year institutions are supposed to improve data accuracyWhat is Transfer Credit?Slide7
ChallengesThe timing can be off: students may be enrolled in the course they need to graduate the term their transcript is sent.Tracking and sending one-off transcripts for late-responding students (or students who need an updated transcript sent once grades have posted)What is Transfer Credit?Slide8
