Slide3Introduction to CRM
Customer relationship management (CRM) is a system for managing a company's interactions with current and future customers. It often involves using technology to organize, automate and synchronize sales, marketing, customer service, and technical support.

Slide6Salesforce.comSalesforce.com is a cloud computing and social enterprise software-as-a-service (
SaaS) provider based in San Francisco. It was founded in March 1999, in part by former Oracle executive Marc
Benioff
.
Of its cloud platforms and applications, the company is best known for its Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) product, which is composed of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Force.com, Chatter and Work.com.
Slide7About SalesforceSales Cloud manages contact information and integrates social media and real-time customer collaboration through Chatter.
Service
Cloud provides companies with a call
center
-like view that enables them to create and track cases coming in, and automatically route and escalate what’s important
.
Force.com, the company's platform-as-a-service (
PaaS
) product, allows software developers to create Salesforce.com add-on applications
..
Applications
are built using Apex (a proprietary Java-like programming language for Force.com) and
Visualforce
(an XML-like syntax for building user interfaces in HTML or Flex
).
Slide8Salesforce.com & Force.com Force.com is a platform where you can develop your own application
.
Salesforce.com is Sales(CRM) and Service applications which were developed and running on the Force.com Platform.
Simply
you can identify Forc.com is where you can access and customize your
datamodel
,
bussiness
logic and
UserInterface
. But in case of salesforce.com you can access the sales(CRM) Application with all the developed data model, Business logic and
UserInterface
.
Slide9Environment/ Organization In Force.com terminology, environments and organizations are synonyms
.Broadly
speaking, there are three types of environments:
Production
Environments
- Salesforce.com environments that have active paying users accessing business critical data
Development
Environments
- Salesforce.com environments where you can extend, integrate and develop on Force.com without affecting your production environments
Test
Environments
- These can be Production or Development Environments specifically used for testing application functionality before deploying to production or releasing to
customers
Slide10What are Sandboxes?
Salesforce gives you the ability to create multiple copies of your organization in separate environments for a variety of purposes, such as testing and training, without compromising the data and applications in your Salesforce production organization.
These
copies are called sandboxes and are nearly identical to your Salesforce production organization.
There are 3 types of sandboxes namely
Developer
Sandbox,
Partial Copy Sandbox,
Full
Sandbox
.
Slide11Developer sandbox -Sandbox Types
Developer
sandboxes are intended for coding and testing. These environments include a copy of your production organization’s metadata, or Setup data
.
Refresh Interval - 1 day Storage
Limits200
MB of data
storage and 200
MB of file storage
Data
Copy - Metadata only
Developer
sandbox environments are intended for coding and testing by a single developer. Multiple users can log in to and share a single Developer sandbox, but the primary purpose of a Developer sandbox is to provide an environment in which changes under active development can be isolated until those changes are ready to be shared.
Slide12Developer Pro Sandbox
Developer Pro sandboxes are intended for coding and testing. These environments include a copy of your production organization’s metadata, or Setup data. Developer Pro sandbox can host larger and more complete data sets, so you can use it for additional tasks such as data load and integration testing and user training.
Refresh Interval - 1 day
Storage Limits -1
GB of data
storage and 1
GB of file storage
Data
Copy - Metadata only
Developer
Pro sandbox environments provide the same functionality as Developer sandboxes do, with increased file and data storage.
Partial Copy SandboxPartial
Copy sandboxes are intended to be used as testing environments. These environments can be used for quality assurance tasks such as user acceptance testing, integration testing, and training. These environments include a copy of your production organization’s metadata, or Setup data, and a subset of your production data as defined by a sandbox template
.
Refresh Interval - 5 days
Storage Limits - 5
GB of data
storage and 5
GB of file storage
Data
Copy - All
metadata and sample of object
dataSandbox
Partial
Copy sandbox environments include all of your organization’s metadata and a sample of your production organization’s data that you define by using a sandbox template.
Slide14Full Sandbox Types of SandboxFull
sandboxes are intended to be used as testing environments. These environments are the only ones that can support full performance testing, load testing, and staging in addition to the tasks that you use other sandboxes for. These environments are a replica of your production organization, including all data—for example, object records and attachments—and
metadata.
Refresh Interval - 29 days
Storage Limits - Same
as production
organization
Data Copy - All
metadata and
data Sandbox
Full
sandbox environments are a replica of your entire production organization and all its data, including standard and custom object records, documents, attachments, code, settings, and so on.
Slide15What are Salesforce Editions?Any
company implementing Salesforce for the first time or getting migrated to Salesforce CRM should choose the type of Salesforce edition based on their type of business. A set of Salesforce features wrapped together is what we call Editions. Salesforce provides 7 types of editions namely
Personal Edition, Contact Manager, Group Edition, Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition, Unlimited Edition and Developer Edition
.
It
is important to note that each environment has a license. This license is used to describe the type of environment. There are 4 production licenses: Group Edition, Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition and Unlimited Edition. Environment licenses can change, but they can only go up in edition, not down.
