The local
foodbank at Clay Cross is a church-based organisation that provides food to local people going hungry.
Who are they? Slide3
The
foodbank stores donated food and distributes it to local people in crisis.
What do they do?
It is a simple concept designed to help individuals and families by providing free emergency food for three days (10 balanced meals).
Three days is the period assessed as the time it takes for the appropriate agencies to be in a position to assist.Slide4
Food is drawn as a result of referrals from registered Care Professionals such as Social Services, Health Visitors, Church Pastoral Workers, schools and others working in the front line of poverty.
How does it work?
Vouchers redeemable at the
food
bank
allow clients to exchange their voucher for 3 days of tinned and dry food for their family. Slide5
The
foodbank will also support socially disadvantaged or vulnerable people by offering placements to work in the community on a number of levels.
