Reflection: Children thoroughly enjoyed the different activities we participated in. Teachers noticed the children all worked very well together. It was lovely to see the seniors encouraging and teaching skills to the juniors.
Finn Harps Schools Programme On Wednesday 3 rd October, the senior classroom participated in the 3@4 Finn Harps School Programme cup. We had a girls team and a boys team. 7 children played on each team. Each game lasted 12 minutes. We played against Glenswilly N.S., Scoil Mhuire Ramelton and Scoil an Leanbh Íosa, Carrigans. Well done to Castletown girls. They drew 7 points with Glenswilly N.S. and went to penalties. Unfortunately we didn’t get through to the finals. We are very proud of our girls!

Boxing Taster Session with Gary Mc Cullagh On Friday 12 th October, Gary Mc Cullagh visited the school to go a session of boxing with the Juniors and Seniors. The children thoroughly enjoyed it.
Gymnastics This year, we will focus on improving the teaching and learning of gymnastics in our school. Mrs. Toner and Mrs. People attended a workshop and upskill themselves on this strand of the PE curriculum.

Healthy Eating and Importance of Exercise Talk Siobhan Coyle and Karen Devine (DLDC Donegal Local Development Company) visited the school and taught the Seniors all about healthy eating, importance of exercise and setting ourselves challenges .
Foyle Arena - Seniors As part of the Peace IV Project, we visited Foyle Arena for a team building session with Portlean N.S. and Drumman N.S.. New activities, new friends, we had a great day!

Active Break Every Day Challenge We participated in the Active Break Every Day Challenge from Monday, November 19 th to Friday, 15th December. We enjoyed doing these short exercises and feel they helped us concentrate on our work.

Finn Harps Schools Programme Dessie Mc Glinchey visited the school for four weeks in February 2019 to do soccer skills with the children. Children thoroughly enjoyed this and improved greatly in their soccer skills.

Finn Harps School Programme After our 4 weeks soccer coaching-Finn Harps School Programme, we played matches 6 a side against St Eunan’s Raphoe, St Mary’s Castlefin and Illistrin N.S.

Playground Leaders
Aquatics – Aura Leisure Centre During Term 3, 1st – 6th class attend swimming lesson in The Aura, Letterkenny for 7 weeks. We have 4 coaches. Children learn how to put their face and head under the water, kick their feet and swim with a float. As the children progress, they work on learning and improving the different strokes – front crawl, breast stroke, doggy paddle and back stroke. Children receive certificates based on their level of achievement.
Land Paws Michael Keane will visit the school on Thursday 23 rd May to teach us very important water safety skills. Our school is situated close to the River Foyle so educating our children on the importance of water safety is vital.
Running Initiative For the month of March, children from all classes will run every Tuesday and Thursday morning. A fast track and a slower track will be set up. Children will begin by walking and then lead into a light jog. The aim is to walk/jog/run for 15 minutes without stopping.

Active School Walkway We love using our active walkway for brain breaks. Sometimes, we use it for ‘Walk and Talk’ at lunch time.

Peace IV Sports Day All 150 children from our Peace IV partnership – Castletown N.S., Portlean N.S. and Drumman N.S. met at the Aura Leisure Centre on Friday 3 rd May. We enjoyed playing at the park, pilates, boot camp, team games and the obstacle course!
