INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SPACE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (IIST) Thiruvananthapuram Undergraduate (B.Tech and Dual Degree) ADMISSION - 2015 :Instructions to candidates for Joining IIST on 1 st August 201 5 Welcome to Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) , the capital city of Kerala. The IIST Campus is situated at Valiamala, about 25 km from the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station and 33 km from the Airport. The locality of Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station is known as Thampanoor. The nearest township (Muncipality) to IIST is Nedumangad, which located (on the way to IIST) about 8 kms away from IIST . Students and their parents have to make their own arrangements for accommodation at Thiruvananthapuram /Nedumangad . The process of joining for 2015 admission batch will be held at IIST Campus, Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram on 1 st August 2015 for the candidates who have been offered and accepted confirmed admission during the admission counseling or during the subsequent wait - list update process. To enable students and parents to reach IIST Campus for admission on 1st August 2015 , IIST has arranged bus facility from Thiruvananthapuram city. Buses will ply in the route described below. Buses will ply from 8.00 am to 11.00 am at regular intervals in the route : Aristo Junction ( 1 00 meters from Railway Station )   In front of Central Railway Station (Thampanoor)   East Fort (opp. Pazhavangady Ganapathy Temple)   Statue (opp. Secretariat)   Vellayambalam (KSRTC Bus Stop)   Kowdiar (KSRTC Bus Stop in front of Heera A partments)   Peroorkada ( KSRTC Bus Stop)   Nedumangad (i n front of LIC)   Anad   Valiamala (IIST). The execution of bond, collection of original certificates (if any) , Medical verification , preparation of photo - identity cards for students, opening of bank account etc. will be carried out as part of the admission . At least o ne Parent should compulsorily accompany the student . After completing the joining formalities on 1st August 2015 , the candidates have to move to the hostel room allotted on the same day . Please note that there is no accommodation facility for the parents, inside the campus. A list of Hotels may be downloaded from our admission website. Hostel accommodation will be available only to students from 1st August 2015 , after the completion the joining formalities. Checklist at the time of Admission The following documents are to be subm itted at the time of joining: 1. Confirmed Admit Card issued by IIST. 2. Ori ginal 10th and 12th Marklist/ Certificates and category (SC/ST/OBC - NCL /PD ) certificate, if not submitted at the time of counseling or later . 3. Rs. 13000/ - (Rs. 3000/ towards Institute caution deposit and Rs. 10000/ - towards Hostel caution deposit) to be paid in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favor of Registrar, IIST , payable at Thiruvananthapuram. 4. Medical Examination Report in the prescribed format. Pleas e download the pdf format from our admission website . . 5. Transfer C ertificate from the Institution last attended. . 6. Certificate of having contracted chicken pox or having taken the first dose of chicken pox vaccination 7. Certificate for having taken first dose of MMR vaccination 8. Five copies of Passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm)colour photographs Commencement of First Semester Classes 3rd August 2015 (Monday) Facilities available at IIST: Each student getting admitted to IIST will be provided with a hostel room on sharing basis. The following items will be made avai lable by the Institute for each student in their hostel r ooms: 1. One cot 2. One study table 3 . One study ch air 4. One side - table 5 . One bookshelf 6 . One almirah Prescribed text books will be supplied by the Institute to each student through the book bank facility. IMPORTANT: Requirements of mattress , bed sheets, pillow and pillow cover , bucket/cup etc . need to be arranged by the student. These may be purchased from the local stores. Climate: Climate in Thiruvananthapuram is moderate. Generally there is no need to carry woolen clothes.
