License Description: Major Requirements for Certification: Registered Nurse Practitioner (3030 licenses) (Including Nurse Midwife - 194 licenses) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (169 licenses)* -- *Note, see specialties recognized after certification requirements. 1) Hold a current Arizona registered nurse (RN) license in good standing or an RN license in good standing from a compact party state with multi-state privileges 2) Educational background, including the name and location of all advanced practice registered nursing education programs or schools attended, the number of years attended, the length of each program, the date of graduation or completion, and the type of degree or certificate awarded; 3) Information regarding national certification or recertification as an advanced practice registered nurse in the category and specialty area, if applicable, for which the applicant is applying, including the name of the certifying organization, specialty area, certification number, date of certification, and expiration date; 4a) For an RNP applicant, submit an official transcript directly from an accredited institution accredited or a Board-approved database that provides evidence of a graduate degree with a major in nursing; 4b) For a CNS applicant, submit: an official transcript directly from an accredited institution or a Board-approved database that provides evidence of a graduate degree with a major in nursing; and evidence that the applicant completed a program in a clinical specialty that prepared the applicant to practice as a CNS, as part of a graduate degree or post-masters program; 5) For an RNP applicant who completed a registered nurse practitioner program that was not part of a graduate degree from a regionally accredited university, submit documentation of completing a program in the specialty area for which the applicant is applying. 6) For an applicant who completed an RNP program, CNS program, or graduate program in a foreign jurisdiction, submit an evaluation from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools or a Board-approved credential evaluation service that indicates the applicant\'s program is comparable to a U.S. graduate nursing program, clinical nurse specialist program, or registered nurse practitioner program in the specialty area Certification Fee: Initial - RNP - $150; CNS - $150; Renewal: None unless RN license expires Continuing Education: None Following specialty area certifications and exams meet the Board requirements: 1) American Academy of Nurse Practitioner certification in the specialties of: Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, 2) American Nurses Credentialing Center certification in the specialties of: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Geriontological Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; 3) Pediatric Nursing Certification Board Certification in the specialty of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner; 4) National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecological, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties certification in the specialties of: Women\'s Health Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, 5) American College of Nurse Midwives Certification Council certification in the specialty of Nurse Midwife.
