Review and Description of Awards National President’s AwardNominated and presented by the National President to the person who is highly prominent and has worked/is working toward FEW’s goals.Distinguished Service Award (May self-nominate)Presented to the person (Department or Agency Official, Member of Congress, etc.) who has shown courage and leadership in furthering the cause of Federally Employed Women.Barbara Bowman Tenant Award (May self-nominate)Recognize the FEW member who has consistently rendered outstanding service to the organization. In general, this overall achievement award represents contributions of national significance above and beyond the scope of the administrative responsibilities of office, whether elective or appointive.Allie Latimer Award (May self-nominate)Recognize the FEW member whose action and leadership resulted in service to FEW at the chapter and/or region level. In general, this overall achievement award recognizes extraordinary grassroots effort working to achieve FEW’s mission.

Review and Description of Awards continuedFederal Department/Agency AwardRecognize a federal department or agency that has shown exemplary service to Federally Employed Women.Private Sector AwardRecognize a corporation or organization in the private sector that has shown exemplary service to Federally Employed Women.FEW Regional Achievement AwardPresented to a FEW region in recognition of consistent excellent performance during the award year. This award is established to stimulate interest and friendly competition among FEW regions.Champion of Diversity AwardPresented to Federal employees (individuals or teams) for notable performance in and contribution to furthering diversity in the federal workplace. Only one award, either an individual or team, will be awarded.Military Meritorious Service AwardPresented to outstanding military service members within the Armed Forces who have distinguished themselves with significant contributions to their service and our nation. This award is overseen by the Special Assistant to Military Women, with the Awards Chair serving as an Ad-Hoc Member.

9. Review and Description of Awards continuedCHAPTER AWARDSHelen R. Dudley Chapter Overall Achievement AwardPresented to a chapter in recognition of consistent excellent performance during the award year. The award was established to stimulate interest and friendly competition among FEW chapters, and each chapter nominated must have submitted award packages in four of the six Chapter Achievement Award categories and received the highest cumulative scores from these categories to be considered the winner. Chapters who submit more than four nominations will have an average score based on their four highest scores. All chapters will be rated on their highest average scores from four categories to be considered the winners.Chapter Achievement AwardsConsist of six awards, one each for best in the following categories; Presented to chapters who excel in the top three spots in these FEW categories during the award year:A. Chapter NewsletterB. ProgramsC. FundraiserD. Membership AchievementE. Special Emphasis ProjectF. Special ProjectSpecial Note: NPPM Reference Section VII, Regions, 3f - Regional Managers will provide input during the rating period of the Chapter Achievement award applications. This input will reflect the eligibility or ineligibility of the Chapter Achievement award participants. Justification by the Regional Manager of their support must be provided in all cases.

Details of Awards CriteriaDistinguished Service Award (Members may self-nominate)The person nominated should be one whose policies, actions, and leadership had national visibility and impact outside of FEW and resulted in at least 50 percent of the following:Training opportunities for womenBetter promotional opportunities for womenAppointment of women to policy-making positions or committees that affect all employeesOpening of non-traditional jobs to womenSpecial projects that resulted in better promotional opportunities for lower grade level women, such as restructuring jobs, promotion from within, crossover with other agencies, etc.The Distinguished Service Award is a lifetime achievement award and upon receipt of an award, an individual is ineligible for this award again. See additional criteria on pages 5-6 of the NPPM and on the submission required form. Barbara Bowman Tennant Award (Members may self-nominate)The person nominated should be one whose action and leadership (at the National level) resulted in service to the organization to the degree above and beyond that required by office or membership, such asMust have FEW’s Presidential approvalRendering outstanding service to members in terms of their employment or training opportunitiesProviding innovative programs or projectsSustaining excellence in securing publicity for FEW’s policies or programsOther significant contributions enhancing the cause of FEWThis is a lifetime achievement award and upon receipt of award, an individual is not eligible for repeat award in the same category. Details of Awards Criteria continuedAllie Latimer Award (Members may self-nominate)This award is an overall lifetime achievement award to recognize an individual’s achievements of regional or local significance, grassroots efforts for a period greater than one year. The person nominated should be one whose continuous persistence in moving FEW’s mission forward resulted in:Must have FEW’s Presidential approvalSignificantly increasing FEW’s membershipProviding guidance and leadership to all levels of FEW to fulfill the goals of FEW’s four major focus areas: Legislative, Training, Compliance, and DiversityMaking other contributions to enhance the mission of FEWThis is a lifetime achievement award and upon receipt of award, an individual is not eligible for repeat award in the same category. Additional criteria can be found on pages 6 -7 of the NPPM and on the submission required form.Federal Department/Agency AwardThe Federal Department of Agency nominated must meet the following criteria:Provided services or activities directly benefitting FEWMade significant contributions of resources and services critical to the success of FEW program activitiesEach chapter may submit one nomination per year for this award. Chapter members desiring to make nominations will submit award nominations to the Chapter President who will present to the Regional Manager for concurrence.A Private Sector Award winner that has received this award for the prior year is ineligible for competition in the current year. Additional criteria can be found on page 7-8 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.FEW Regional Achievement AwardThis award is established to simulate interest and friendly competition among FEW Regions.Recognizes the one FEW Region that has excelled in support of FEW’s goals and objectives.A region that has received this award for the prior year is ineligible for competition in the current year.TIE BREAKER NOTE: Regions that do not respond to national office or legislative action alerts within the established deadlines may have points subtracted from the total score. Point subtraction will begin with minus (-1) point.Additional criteria can be found on pages 8-9 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.

Details of Awards Criteria continuedChampion of Diversity AwardThis award is given to a Federal employee/employees (individual or team) for notable performance in and contribution to furthering diversity in the Federal Workplace. Special Note: FEW members are eligible but, any diversity efforts that they do in the capacity of FEW are not eligible for consideration.The nomination should contain information on activities within the federal agencies which promote the principles of diversity such as job re-design; accomplishments in upward mobility, recruiting, hiring and/or promotion of minorities, women and people with disabilities; and contributions to and/or participation in federal agencies diversity events for various special months (i.e. Black History, Hispanic Heritage, Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage, Women’s History Month, etc.). Further off-duty activities which promote diversity, should be included in any nomination.Nominees are not restricted to managers or executive staff professionals in the field of diversity, human resources, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, special emphasis programs, disability employment, or employees with civil rights responsibilities but rather to all who further these objectives regardless of their primary duties, such as Federal employees or team of employees.Additional criteria can be found on pages 9-10 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.Helen R. Dudley Overall Achievement AwardNomination packages must be submitted.Presented to a chapter in recognition of consistent excellent performance during the award year.This award was established to stimulate interest and friendly competition among FEW chapters.Each chapter nominated must have submitted award packages in four (4) of the six (6) Chapter Achievement Award categories: Best Chapter Newsletter, Best Programs, Best Fund Raiser, Membership, Best Special Emphasis Project and Best Special Project.Chapters who submit more than four (4) nominations will have an average score based on their four (4) highest scores.All chapters will be rated on their highest average scores from four (4) categories to be considered the winners.Chapters who have won this award in the prior year are ineligible for competition in the current year.Additional criteria can be found on pages 11-12 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.

Details of Awards Criteria continuedOne (1) Overall Regional Achievement AwardRegional Managers must review, verify and sign each nomination package.All award nominations must be submitted electronically with documentation no later than April 7.The electronic process for FEW Award submissions is outlined on the website.The winning entries in each Chapter Award category are housed in a special record book and may be on display, in the exhibit hall, at the National Membership Booth during FEW’s National Event.A Region that has received this award for the prior year is ineligible for competition in the current year.

15. Details of Awards Criteria continuedChapter Achievement AwardsOne (1) Chapter Achievement Award (Helen R. Dudley)Detailed information outlined on slide 9.Best Chapter Newsletter AwardCriteria for this award include:Sample copies of at least three (3) newsletters must be attached to the nomination form.All newsletters have been reviewed by the Publications, Policy and Review Committee (PPRC) by sending an email with all required information to: publications@few.org and received approval from the FEW National President. This approval process must be an email copy from the FEW National President which indicates the newsletter has been approved for release with corrected edits. The information should be attached to the Chapter Newsletter Award submission. All packets submitted without the FEW National President’s email will be considered ineligible and not reviewed.Additional criteria can be found on page 13 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.Best Chapter Programs AwardCriteria for this award include:Copies of publicity methods must be attached to the application form.Chapters will not be considered for this award unless they have addressed and presented programs in each of FEW’s four (4) focus areas as required during the award period (January 1-December 31).FEW’s Focus Areas are as follows:LegislativeTrainingDiversityComplianceAdditional criteria can be found on page 14 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.

Details of Awards Criteria continuedBest Chapter Fundraiser AwardCriteria for this award include:Description of only one (1) fundraiser with supporting evidence is to be attachedIdentification of the amount of money raised (% of net profit divided by total money raised) must be a part of the submissionConsistency of use of profits with purposes of Chapter/National FEW objectivesDemonstrate that profits were used for financial support for chapter officers and members by Attendance at RTPs and NTPsEducational scholarships to members and othersSupport to your communityOther similar activitiesAdditional criteria can be found on pages 14-15 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.Best Chapter Membership AwardCriteria for this award include:Submission of a current membership roster for December 2019 and December 2020Attach to the nominations package must be the December Membership Roster for the current year from FEW’s National Office Contracted Administrative Staff (Membership) or from the Vice President of Membership and Chapter Organizations, plus the January Membership Roster from the immediate past yearAdditional criteria can be found on page 15 of the NPPM and on the required submission form.

Details of Awards Criteria continuedBest Chapter Special EmphasisA special emphasis project is one that gives visibility to one of the Special Emphasis Programs and Federal observances established by law, a bill or resolution of Congress. 19. Details of Awards continuedEligibility RequirementsAll quarterly reports must be submitted on time which is by the 10th of each month. There are no exceptions!Timely responses to requests for information from the National, Regional et al.All supporting documentation that is required for award submissions must be included. Please note the file size restrictions for attachments which can be found on Microsoft Office under the topic of Compressing Graphics.Use spell check regularly.Do not cut and paste documents.Financial obligations to National, Regional and Chapter offices must be fully met.Nomination packages must be electronically submitted via the FEW website. NationalLog into the FEW website under Membership to submit a FEW Awards packageDO NOT send any awards packets to the National Awards Chair. Please log onto the FEW website and submit your packages.All required attachments and documentation must be included with your electronic package. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will disqualify your submission.Review and ensure your packet is complete before it is submitted. This could make the difference and is key in how your final scoring is graded.Once your award packet is submitted, a confirmation email should be sent to you. If you do not receive a follow up communication, please contact the National Awards Chair at awards@few.org for assistance. You may also reach out to the FEW Webmaster at webmaster@few.org for follow up.

FEW National ScholarshipsThe FEW scholarship programs provide an opportunity for deserving individuals to participate in the National Training Program who might not otherwise be able to attend and for members who are looking to further their academic goals. Each member who meets the requirements is encouraged to submit an application for a scholarship.FEW’s four scholarship categories are:National Training Program (NTP) or National Event Regular ScholarshipNTP or National Event Retiree ScholarshipDaisy Fields’ National Collegiate Scholarship for FEW MembersNational Collegiate Scholarship for Immediate Family Members

National ScholarshipsNTP or National Event Regular Scholarship: Recipient(s) are entitled to a full expense paid week of training at the NTP held in July Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:A regular member of FEW for at least 1 year and GS12 and below.An active elected officer, committee chair or member participating in meetings, programs, and events of a Chapter.Must not have been a NTP scholarship recipient in the past 3 years.When a scholarship cannot be utilized by a recipient because of illness or serious illness/death of an immediate family member, the recipient has 1 year to use the scholarship.

National ScholarshipsNTP or National Event Retiree Scholarship: Recipient(s) are entitled to a full expense paid week of training at the NTP held in JulyApplications must meet the following eligibility criteria:A member of FEW for at least 3 years prior to retirement or joined FEW for 3 years after retirement having maintained continuous membership since retirementAn active member continuing to participate in FEW activities at Chapter, Region and National levelsMust not have been an NTP scholarship recipient in the past 3 yearsWhen a scholarship cannot be utilized by a recipient because of illness or serious illness/death of an immediate family member that the recipient has 1 year to use of the scholarship

National ScholarshipsDaisy Fields’ National Collegiate Scholarship for FEW Members: Recipient(s) will receive financial assistance with tuition and books to attend an institution of higher learning only; assistance to attend the NTP is not authorized with this scholarship.Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: Be a member of FEW in good standing and demonstrate active participation with FEW for 3 years or more Must not have been a scholarship recipient in the past 3 yearsComplete an essay on the topic “Why I Should be Awarded a FEW Collegiate Scholarship”Be pursuing your first undergraduate degree or first graduate degree at an accredited institution

National Scholarships Daisy Fields’ National Collegiate Scholarship – ContinuedBe attending an accredited 2- or 4-year college/university and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5Submit a copy of recent college transcripts and the acceptance letter from the college/universitySubmit three letters of recommendation preferably from a Chapter President, Regional Manager, community leader and/or supervisorMust use the official online FEW scholarship application to apply and all applications must be completed online and submitted electronically by April 7 (11:59 p.m. Eastern)When a scholarship cannot be used by a recipient because of illness or serious illness/death of an immediate family member, the recipient has 1 year to use the scholarship

National ScholarshipsNational Collegiate Scholarship Program For Immediate Family Members: Recipient(s) will receive financial assistance with tuition and books only, assistance to attend the NTP is not authorized with this scholarship.This scholarship will financially assist students who plan to attend an accredited or are currently enrolled in an accredited 2- or 4-year college/university. Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: Be the child or grandchild of an active FEW member (serving as an engaged officer, committee chair or member participating in meetings, programs, events, or supports or participates in FEW activities)Must be a high school senior or attending an accredited 2- or 4-year university to apply and be seeking his/her first undergraduate degree. Must attach a copy of your high school or college transcript and letter of acceptance to a college/university

31. National ScholarshipsNational Collegiate Scholarship For Immediate Family Members ContinuedMust be in good academic standing with current high school or college. Her/his grade point average must be 2.50 or higherIndividual must provide at least three letters of recommendation from high school principal, high school teacher, guidance counselor, college professor or community leader of which individual is actively involved in a program (girl or boy scouts, mentor or tutor program, etc.) to assist othersIndividual must write a one-page (no less than 500 words) essay which contains the following:How receiving this scholarship will make a difference in your life andCiting a woman or man in your life who has inspirited or encouraged you and the difference she/he made

National ScholarshipsNational Collegiate Scholarship Program For Immediate Family Members – ContinuedApplicant must provide documentation she/he has applied for or been accepted/enrolled to a 2- or 4-year accredited college or universityShe/he must use the official online FEW scholarship application to apply, and all applications must be completed online and submitted electronically by April 7 (11:59 p.m. Eastern)Must not have been a FEW Collegiate Scholarship recipient in the past 3 years

FEW National Scholarship FundingThe number of applicants selected in each category is based on the financial amount allotted by FEW’s National Executive Committee/National Board of Directors for Scholarships. Each NTP Scholarship funding includes: Registration fee to the NTP or National Event, Roundtrip airfare from the nearest major city at the coach rate , Hotel accommodations as designated on the current-year NTP Scholarship application.Each Collegiate Scholarship funding includes:Assistance for tuition and books only which is paid directly to the recipient’s college/university,Does not receive funding to attend NTP.

National ScholarshipsHow To Apply: Must Apply Electronically at: www.few.org/training-education/scholarships/Review Scholarship criteria and submission requirements in the Scholarships Section IV of the National Policy and Procedures Manual (NPPM) FEW’s Executive Committee makes the final decision on the winners in May. All applicants are notified of their selection in May also.

FEW Foundation for Education and Training2021 Scholarship ProgramsThe FEW Foundation participates in and offers three annual Scholarship programs: Grantham University Scholarship or Certificate of TrainingNTP Past Presidents Scholarship RTP Training Scholarships Grantham University: Resulting from the Foundation’s partnership with Grantham, FEW members and their direct families have the opportunity to apply for either a Grantham Scholarship or a Certificate of Training, valued at $5,000 (plus resource fees and books). The application is open March 15 through April 30, (11:59 p.m. Eastern time). Up to three qualifying applicants will be selected for this annual online program. FEW Foundation for Education and Training2021 Scholarship ProgramsNTP Past Presidents Scholarship: The FEW Foundation provides funding for this annual Scholarship, which is awarded at the NTP or the VLS summer event. The NTP Scholarship provides funding for the member’s transportation, lodging, registration fee, and other travel-related costs. The 2021 NTP Scholarship is valued at $1800. Complete information is available on the FEW website. Regional Training Program (RTP) Training Scholarships: The FEW Foundation provides an RTP Scholarship to each Region for one RTP, valued at $150. FEW Military Meritorious Service AwardPurpose —The purpose of the FEW Military Meritorious Service Awards is to recognize outstanding military service members within the Armed Forces who have distinguished themselves with significant contributions to their service and our nation by one or more of the following: 1. Promoting a positive understanding of the armed forces among and between men and women, minority and non-minority members of the military and civilian population. 2. Fostering an innovative and constructive environment between the military and civilian community and men and women of all races and ethnic backgrounds that benefit employees and/or community residents. 3. Displaying exceptional character that distinguishes the individual as an outstanding leader and role model. 4. Supporting and working towards the advancement of women within the armed forces. FEW Military Meritorious Service AwardSubmission Requirements Nominations must be submitted through appropriate command channels and endorsed by the organization’s Commander or Director and must include the following: Narrative describing the nominee’s accomplishments, single-spaced, not to exceed two pages. Accomplishments should consist of one or more of the following: The nominee distinguished himself or herself by promoting the tenets of civil/human rights, equal opportunity, human relations, and/or public service. The nominee contributed to the equal opportunity for selection, promotion or retention of women and minorities in senior grade level positions and under-represented occupations. The nominee assisted in overcoming discrimination and eliminating barriers that hinder equal opportunity for all members of the Armed Forces and civilians including women and minorities in the Armed Forces. The nominee created job or training opportunities that will support and contribute to advancement of all Service members including women and minorities in the Armed Forces or civilian workforce. Biography of the nominee Biography of the nominee, single-spaced, not to exceed one page. Citation statement summarizing the nominee’s accomplishments, single-spaced, not to exceed 18 lines of narrative; Arial, 12-point font, with 1 inch left and right margins.

50. FEW Military Meritorious Service AwardTime-Period The time-period for accomplishments by this award is established by Federally Employed Women (FEW). All packages must be submitted electronically by May 7, 2021. If a nominee is selected for this award, the respective service must pay for the travel and per diem TDY costs associated with the awardee attending the Awards Ceremony. All award packages must be submitted electronically, with documentation, at https://www.few.org/our-focus-2/military-women/ no later than May 7, 2020. The Military Awards open season begins April 8, 2021 and closes May 7, 2021. Award packages submitted after May 7, 2021 will not be accepted.
