certainly not anticipated. And then Tony returned! A great, huge, lumbering lion can dance. She rushed around her enclosure . . . he waited until she was calmer, and then went in. She licked his hands and his face – she rushed around through the taIl grass – when he finally sat down, she sat down beside him. She leaned against him. And then they went into her house and sat, out of the mosquitoes (likely Tony's choice), in the dry straw, and the conversa - tion went on and on. If she learned anything about bears and Russia it is difficult to say, but he learned that no human friend ought to leave a lion, even with friends. And her chicken is being brought into the pen every day now, and being put properly down in the place it belongs. Brought in by Tony, as it ought to be. I mentioned the MacTier Railroad Heritage Society August 4 fundraising dance in last week's issue and did not mention the band that's playing. It's called Pontune 5 . This will be held at Mac - Tier Arena on August 4 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The cost per person is $10. It was a quiet holiday weekend in our area, but all the local businesses were doing brisk sales. Some small vandalism took place about town, out - side of the school and at local parks. I don't see what is accomplished with this vandalism, it just costs us more money to fix the prob - lems. Murder mystery dinner Coming up on Saturday, July 14, is the MacTier Lions Club murder mystery dinner theatre at the MacTier Arena hall. The theme of the theatre is Murder Aldente . Tickets sold before July 7 are $35 a person, after that date they are $45 per person. Plan to attend this great evening of fun. As I put this column together I can hear a small amount of rain hitting the roof. We need lots of rain as lawns and the forests are very, very dry. A full day of steady rain will do, don't you think! ••••• MacTier Curling Club Men's Horseshoe Standings June 28th Brian Lemkay ac tier NEWS Boyd.........................28 Daigle.......................28 Schell.......................26 Roberge....................18 Lance........................14 MacLeod....................6
