Try this quick exercise:

Think

of two people you really love Think of two things you really love to do Think of two places that give you peaceWhere do you ‘feel’ those thoughts? Did you know, the heart has its own complex nervous system and is the first pathway for emotion. The signals from the heart then interact with the brain and entire body. When it comes to emotion, the heart sends more information to the brain than the brain sends to the heart.If you can influence your emotional regulation at the heart level, you can handle your thoughts and moods effectively.

Managing emotions may be challenging, but it's possible. To succeed, replace stressful thoughts with positive emotions.Things to try:Give hugs liberally. The magic number is 8 hugs a day to release positive hormones in your body. If you feel weird hugging your co-workers, then save the hugs for friends/family. Smile. Emotions are contagious. A smile is one of the easiest giftsyou can give to others, while also improving your mood.

Try 4-2-6 breathing. If you've been feeling less focused, and more scattered/stressed, try this: sit in a chair with your back straight. Breathe in for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 2, then exhale for a count of 6. For optimal results, repeat this for five minutes.Change your passwords. This is a way of planting positive thoughts in your brain, ex: keepC@lmSavor something. Linger and focus on positive events and emotions to increase their effect even further.www.heartmath.org
