th and 9th Earl’s of Exeter and their extravagant purchases on their Grand Tours.  Our Guides will introduce your guests to their purchases in each room including beautiful tapestries, marquetry furniture and stunning Italian paintings.Remarkable Craftsman at Burghley  £14.00 per person (£15.50 inc. Gift Aid)This amazing House had remarkable craftsman who contributed to making it the Treasure House it is today.  This tour appreciates that remarkable skill by viewing Verrio’s ceilings, Grinling Gibbons wood carving and Edward Martens wonderful plaster work ceilings to name but a few

GARDEN TOURSTo celebrate the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown why not join one of our specialist tours.Changing Landscape at Burghley£50 per personThis full day experience gives a full exploration of Brown’s influence at Burghley.  After arrival tea and coffee, lectures will be given with emphasis on Browns work during his decade at Burghley including his architectural work. After these lectures there will be the opportunity to view the Capability Brown Exhibition before a soup and sandwich lunch in the Capbility Brown designed Orangery. The afternoon session will feature a guided tour of the parkland with our Head Forester viewing the evolution of the parkland from the original London and Wise plantings to Browns vistas

The Gardens at Burghley£20 per person.A lecture over tea, coffee and biscuits with our Head Gardener, viewing of the Capability Brown Exhibition, and a tour of the Private South Gardens with views of the Summerhouse, Lion Bridge and South Facade all Brown’s design, and Gardens of Surprise including the Sculpture Garden, originally Browns lost arboretum.

the Builder – The State Rooms & Gardens at

Burghley. £30 per person (lunch not included).Following tea and coffee on arrival a tour of the State Rooms with our House Guides will focus on the work of Brown at Burghley including the renovation of the Chapel and alteration of the architecture of the House to aid views of his newly created parkland. After a break for lunch, the afternoon will feature a tour of the Gardens by our Head Gardener including views of the Summerhouse, Lion Bridge and South Facade, all Brownian designed. Wheelchairs are available on loan free of charge, subject to availability.HouseDisabled visitors are required to transfer from their wheelchair on to the stair lift. Porters are on hand to help with our stair lifts and access to the State Rooms.

GardensDisabled parking is close to the Gardens of Surprise and gravel paths lead to the Gardens. In the Garden of Surprise all areas are wheelchair friendly with paving stones for path ways. The Sculpture Garden path ways are bark mulch pathways.

Fully accessible toilets for wheelchair users can be found throughout the grounds. At the main

Brewhouse Visitor Entrance, in the Chestnut Courtyard near the House Entrance, and by the Garden Café near the Garden of Surprise. The maximum distance from the car park to the Brewhouse Visitor Entrance is approximately 100 meters.DogsVisually and hearing impaired visitors can be assisted by their guide and hearing dogs in the castle and grounds.
