They are part of a global movement with millions of young campaignersSlide7

Children from two Welsh schools visited Westminster and asked, ‘Mr Cameron, will you Send My Friend to School?’Slide8

Our young campaign ambassadors represented the UK at the UN’s first ever youth takeover on 12

th

July 2013Slide9

Children have told us about the qualities and skills that make an ideal teacher.

They believe that every child deserves a great teacher.Slide10

They have added their voices to global demands for education for all!Slide11

Pupils at Rhodes Avenue

Primary met

DfID

Minister Lynne Featherstone MP Slide12

50

+ MPs

went back

to school to meet young campaigners in

person.

99% of MPs received Send My Friend messages from their constituents!Slide13

Nearly 5,000 UK schools have taken partSlide14

We are having an impact! The UK

government is

now giving

more than any other country in aid to

education.

Sadly, the global picture doesn’t look so

good - many

countries are giving less than last year and education aid has fallen by £200 million globally.

£17 billion a year is needed to get every child in school - about four times as much aid as is currently being given. Slide15

So we can’t stop campaigning yet…

In the words of

Malala

Yousafzai

:

“I speak, not for myself, but for those without voice to be heard…

Let us pick up our books and pens. They are our most powerful weapons.

One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education first.”Slide16

Thank you everyone for being part of Send My Friend to School!
