Adjust soil pH (if necessary) and then apply a ‘starter’ fertilizer (e.g. 18-24-12) prior to seeding.Seed at the suggested rate. Crown Jewel turf-type Tall Fescue Blend germinates, when soil temperatures are between 60°F and 85°F. For best results, ensure good seed to soil contact during the seeding process. It is necessary to provide light, frequent irrigation for optimum germination. Under sufficient soil temperature and soil moisture, germination should be complete in three to four weeks. New seedlings require eight to twelve months to depict mature growth characteristics.
Maintain a sharp mower blade to prevent tearing of young, tender leaves. Under normal situations, a cutting height between 2” and 3” is recommended.
Crown Jewel turf-type Tall Fescue Blend responds well to three to four pounds of actual nitrogen per thousand square feet, on an annual basis.
