Welcome New Team Members!New Names and Faces around Berea College 1st & 2nd Quarter 2017

Mawnie Belcher joined Berea College on 4/17/17 as a Early Childhood Specialist for PFE. She previously worked at Grace Academy and Cornerstone Christian where she taught Preschool, Kindergarten, Art and Pre K – 11th grades. Mawnie earned her ACE Certification in 2014 and her ABEKA Certification in 2005. Avvyella Bragg joined Berea College on 6/1/17 as a Non Traditional Student Program Associate, Berea Corps and will be working in the Eco Village/Student Life department. She was previously the Building Manager at Hutchins Library. Avvyella received her BA in Theatre from Berea College and is currently pursing her MA in Library Science from UK.

Kimberly Brown joined Berea College on 3/27/17 as the Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications. Kim has previously worked with the National Association of Professional Women, National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Black Enterprise Magazine. She received her BA in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While working as a writer for the National Basketball Association, Kim interviewed the legendary Michael Jordan. She is an avid Tar Heels fan and is a proud Army Brat. Ami Callow joined Berea College on 2/1/17 as an Assistant Track Coach in the Athletic Department. She was previously employed by Berea Community School. Ami received her BA in Middle Grades Math Education from Berea College.

Holly Collins joined Berea College on 5/22/17 as an Early Childhood Program Associate for PFE. She previously was employed by the Louisville Metro Office of Management and Budget. She received her BA in Psychology from Marshall University in 2006. Holly is a Mom of twin boys, Oliver & Patrick.Stephen Daniels joined Berea College on 4/1/17 as a Educational Opportunity Counselor for PFE. He received his Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Kentucky in 2008.Tonya Denny joined Berea College on 2/1/17 as an Assistant Softball Coach in the Athletics Department. She earned her BA in Sociology, Psychology from Union College in 2002 and her Masters in Criminal Justice from Walden College in 2017. Tonya loves traveling and sports.

Terri Jo Dionne joined Berea College on 4/1/17 as an Educational Opportunity Counselor for PFE. She previously worked as a Student Advocate at a Child’s Place and as a 2nd grade Literacy Tutor. Terri Jo earned her BA in Science in Child and Family Studies from EKU in 2014 and she is a Certified Family Life Educator. Joetta Gaunt joined Berea College on 3/20/17 as a Community Literacy Navigator for PFE. She previously worked as an Elementary Teacher for 31 years at Knox County School System. She also works as a professional photographer at Expressions By J Photography. In 1973 Joetta earned her BS, in 1979 her Master of Arts in Education and in 1981 her Rank I Degree (1-8) Education all from Union College in Barbourville, KY. She loves photography and cooking, is a former board member of the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization and a volunteer for the Children’s Miracle Network Organization.

Sherry Gibson joined Berea College on 6/1/17 as a Program Associate for PFE. She retired from the Kentucky Dept of Revenue as an Auditor after 28 years of service. Sherry earned her BS in Accounting from UK in 1989.Johauna Gosney joined Berea College on 2/20/17 as a Student Payment Manager in the Labor Program. She previously worked as a Gifts Specialist at Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY. Johauna earned her BA in Sociology from Berea College in 2012.Brittany Harris joined Berea College on 3/20/17 as a Budget Analyst for PFE. Brittany earned her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration concentrating in accounting from Berea College. She is now pursuing her MBA at University of the Cumberlands

Drew Hoskins joined Berea College on 4/13/17 as a Sr. Budget Analyst for PFE. He was previously employed by Save the Children since 2011. Drew earned his BA in Management and Economics from the University of Kentucky.Christopher Jansen joined Berea College on 6/14/17 as a Technical Support Specialist in the IS&S Department. He previously held Labor positions at Berea College as a Computer Science Dept. Teachers Assistant, T.R.C. Desktop Support Technician and a T.R.C. Help Desk Technician. Christopher earned his BA in Computer and Information Science from Berea.

Zachary Johnson joined Berea College on 6/1/17 s a Class Giving Associate in the Annual Giving Department. Zachary earned his BA in Communication from Berea College.Carla Jordan joined Berea College on 5/22/17 as a Program Manager for PFE. She was previously employed by Ohio Valley Education Cooperative, Upper Cumberland Special Education Cooperative and Knox County Board of Education. Carla earned her BA and MA from EKU. She enjoys Photography, hiking, riding ATV’s and picking blackberries in the Kentucky Mountains.

Penelope Jordan joined Berea College 4/1/17 as a Associate Executive Director for PFE. She was previously employed by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Penelope earned her EdD from Easter Kentucky University.Heather Kates joined Berea College on 2/20/17 as a Program Associate for PFE.Julie LeBrun joined Berea College on 4/17/17 as a Counselor in Counseling Services. Julie earned her Master of Arts in Counseling and is a licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She is a Certified Personal Trainer and is certified in PIYO.

Mariah Lunsford-Brown joined Berea College on 6/5/17 as a Campus & Events Associate in the Office of Admissions. She previously worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Jessamine Early Learning Village Family Resource Center. Mariah earned her BA in Sociology from Berea College and her MSW from Asbury University.Amanda Maggard joined Berea College on 5/8/17 as a Program Manager for PFE. She previously worked for Union College as a Online Student Service Specialist and an Adjunct Instructor. Amanda earned her BBA from EKU and her MBA from University of the Cumberlands.Diana Mills joined Berea College 6/1/17 as a Knox Promise Neighborhood Program Manager in Barbourville for PFE. She previously worked for Knox County Board of Education and Union College. Diana received her BS in Education, MA and Rank I in Education from Union College and K-12 Library Science Endorsement from University of Kentucky.

Robin Mitchell joined Berea College on 3/13/17 as a Community Literacy Manager for PFE. She previously worked at Lynn Camp (Elementary through KCEOC) and Bookstore Manager & Food Service Director Assistant at Williamsburg Independent School. Robin earned her BA in Human Resources and a BA in Psychology from the University of Cumberlands. Stacie Moses joined Berea College 3/1/17 as a Program Manager Integration for PFE. She earned her BS in Therapeutic Recreation.Daniel Mullins joined Berea College as a Housekeeper in Facilities Management on 1/25/17. Daniel previously worked at Dollar General, Sawmill, and Climax Spring Water.

Cody Myers joined Berea College on 6/1/17 as a Software Development Associate in the IS&S Department. Cody earned his BA in Computer and Information Science from Berea College. He enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking. Cody says he is passionate about the outdoors so Berea College was a natural fit for him.Anthony Myrks-Brewer joined Berea College as a Annual Giving Associate on 6/1/17 in the Development Department. He earned his BA in Education from Berea College with a minor in Child and Family Studies. Anthony played basketball for Berea College from 2012-2017.Brandon Noble joined Berea College on 6/1/17 as a Continuous Improvement Associate for the Operations and Sustainability Department. Brandon earned his BS in Business Administration from Berea College in 2016.

Shadia Prater joined Berea College on 6/1/17 as a Policy & Data Collection Associate for the Office of the President. She earned her BA in Asian Studies & Computer Science.Buddy “Trey” Prather joined Berea College on 4/24/17 as a Forestry Technician in the Forestry Department. He was previously employed by the City of Lexington, Raven Run, as a Land Management Specialist and Copperhead Environmental Consulting as a Forestry Technician. Trey earned his Bachelors in Forestry from UK. He enjoys playing guitar, fishing and playing softball. Crystal Reid joined Berea College on 5/1/17 as a Early Childhood Literacy Navigator for PFE. She previously worked for Save the Children as a Early Steps Coordinator. Crystal graduated from high school in 1996 and currently has 112 College hours. She loves watching her daughter Cheer and working with kids.

Tiffany Reppert joined Berea College on 5/24/17 as a Telecommunicator in the Public Safety Department. She earned her BA in English Literature from Berea College.Mercedes Stanfield joined Berea College on 6/1/17 as an Admissions Representative in the Admissions Office. She earned her BS in Technology and Applied Design from Berea College. Mercedes enjoyed playing softball at Berea College for 4 years.Lois Scott joined Berea College on 5/22/17 as an Administrative Assistant in the Major & Planned Gifts Department. She previously worked at Manpower and Sterling Software. Lois earned her B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Mount Union College. She enjoys going on cruises, her family and scuba diving.
