Easy method for polishing spokes
Can be done with wheel on the bikeMinimal cost, a few hours of time
Makes your wheels look new gain !Slide4
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Metal polish - Toothbrush - Round shoelace at least 24” in lengthSlide5
Tarnished spokes, we need to shine them up !Slide6
Using toothbrush, apply metal polish to 1 foot section near middle of shoelaceSlide7
Spray a small amount of water on the shoelace area with the polishSlide8
- Wrap the shoelace with one turn around the spoke you want to polishSlide9
Keep shoelace tight, use back & forth motion to polish spoke (blue arrows)
Also slowly move shoelace up & down to polish entire spoke (orange arrows)Slide10
- Make two spoke markers by slitting short
sections of vacuum line
- Leave one on 1

spoke and move second
marker around wheel as you finish spokesSlide11
Repeat above steps for each spokeDo all spokes on one side, switch sides
Shiny spoke looks like new !Slide12
