Lambeth Crematorium A guide to Lambeth Crematorium and its services 32 Lambeth CrematoriumThe Lambeth Crematorium and Garden ofRemembrance were opened in May 1958. They are set amid ten acres of peacefulgardens. The crematorium is next to Cemetery, which was opened in 1854. The chapel The gentle curving design of the modern chapel takes into considerationthe communal and private needs of those who are grieving. The building isfull of natural light and the main foyer is welcoming and informal. creates a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere which lends itself to services ofany religious denomination or size. 54 Book of Remembrance The Book of Remembrance is a simple and lasting record. The Book istraditionally bound and contains a page for each day of the year. The pagesare turned daily, so that you can come and see your loved one's entry onthat date each year.Each volume of the Book is displayed in a presentation cabinet in theBook of Remembrance room, which is immediately adjacent to thecrematorium building. Please contact our staff for information on how to obtain copies of entries in 76 Garden of Remembrance en acres of garden surround the main chapel building and radiate withcolour and harmony all year round. The gardens have well-kept lawns andvisitors are welcome to come and enjoy the serenity and beauty of themature shrubs and borders. The Garden of Remembrance is a special area set aside for crematedemains. You can arrange with our staff to scatter your loved one's remains inthe garden. You can also arrange for the purchase and planting of memorialose bushes and you are welcome to place floral tributes on the pavedplatforms on either side of the Book of Remembrance room. A section of the garden is wooded and a small glade area has beencleared. In the spring, the glade is carpeted with crocuses and daffodils. 98 Services provided by Lambeth Crematorium Religious and non-religious services  All Christian denominations, including the Roman Catholic Church, allowcremation. Cremation is also acceptable to Sikhs, Hindus, Parsees and  A full religious service can be conducted at the crematorium. You maybrief committal ceremony at the crematorium.  ou may wish to hold a non-religious service that follows your culturaltraditions. Secular services can be conducted at the crematorium. Noceremony need take place. Music Music is provided free of charge. Our staff will be happy to discuss your choiceof music with you and the chapel is fitted with a public address system. Memorials Crematorium can also provide the following:  The purchase and planting of rose bushes and ornamental trees for theGarden of Remembrance (the fee for this service includes a memorial  Cremation plots  Memorial cards  A miniature Book of Remembrance.Our staff will be pleased to provide you with more details.
