What is bovine tuberculosis TB A Bovine TB is a contagious chronic bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium bovis The infection commonly involves the lungs but it may spread to other organs Animals often dont show signs until the infection has reac tuberculosis Mycobacterium bovis M bovis is another mycobacterium that can cause TB disease in people M bovis is most commonly found in cattle and other animals such as bison elk and deer In people M bovis causes TB disease that can affect the lungs This disease is a significant zoonosis that can spre ad to humans typically by the inhalation of aerosols or the ingestion of unpasteurized milk In developed countries eradication programs have reduced or eliminated tuberculosis in cattle and human McKayla Blanch and Caroline Ferguson.
