Packing and moving can be very stressful if you don’t have the right professional services to help you out. But that doesn’t mean that you let them handle your favourite crockery and that
bone china inherited from grandma. It may take your time, but it is best to pack crockery and glassware by yourself when you decide to shift. Slide3
Select a box which doesn’t allow you to pack more than 5 Kg. The size should be kept compact.
Why
you shouldn’t choose a big box? The bigger the box, the more we want to cram stuff. This could be dangerous and lead to cracking and breakage. b) Packers and Movers tend to place bigger and heavier boxes at the bottom of the stack while loading their vehicle.

Since china
and glass items are easily breakable, extra attention has to be rendered to
move them
safely. Wrap it with paper first and then use bubble wrap and cardboard planks for better protection. However, if you pack them all together, the purpose is defeated.Make sure you don’t place more than one item under the three layer protection. Slide5
Add a layer of cushion foam at the bottom of the box before arranging the paper/bubble wrapped pieces.
Arrange the objects in such a way that they do not touch the box’s edge. A minimum of 1” gap has to be maintained from the edge. Slide6
For lidded items like sugar bowls and tea pots, place cushiony
items, like foam or bubble wrap between the lid and the body of the container before packing them together. Slide7
The
glassware collection of yours would weigh different with each item. A few may be weighing very light, while a few may be too heavy.
After wrapping the glass items with a three layer protection
(newspaper, bubble wrap and cardboard pads) place heavy glassware at the bottom of the box with the light weighing, fragile ones on the top. Also make sure the box has certain amount of inside space to keep the glassware separated from each other. This prevents breakage. Once the space between the items is planned the crockeries can be arranged. As a final touch add foam, papers or packing peanuts to the empty space. This is to keep the items tight while transiting. It
is better to choose double boxing as this renders double protection to your favourite tableware. Also take time to fill the empty space between the outer and inner box with foams. As the packing is double, the cost will be a little more than your budget, but c’mon this is not the time to skimp on the wrapping materials.
Last but not the least, tape the lid properly and load it in the vehicle. Slide9
