What is Divestment?

Divestment is DIS - INVESTMENT

and putting into better safer placesSlide3

Why Divest?

Why would we do this?

It’s a powerful way to make changes in the business community and can have much wider effects.

Keep it in the GroundSlide4

Why divest Fossil Fuel stocks?

Fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) produce Carbon Dioxide, which is causing Global Warming and Climate Change.

To reduce the long term damage we need to stop using these fuels, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, and switch to RENEWABLESSlide5

Does this mean losing part of my nest-egg?

Actually divestment will safeguard your nest egg. Fossil fuel stock prices are based on extracting and burning everything possible. They have identified MANY TIMES more than can be burned without causing catastrophic long-term changes. We need to KEEP 70% IN THE GROUND!Slide6

What is the ‘Carbon Bubble’?

T

he

world

is starting to

prices will drop - >> Carbon Bubble

So getting out NOW will improve your long term security.

The term “stranded assets” will be used for the oil and gas left in the ground.Slide7

This reality will cause the Carbon Bubble to burst sometime in the near future
