In 1952, he moved back to New York and found a job as a graphic designer.The first book Eric Carle illustrated was “Brown Bear Brown Bear, What do you See?” written by Bill Martin Jr. The first book Eric Carle wrote was 1,2,3 to the Zoo and followed by The Very Hungry Caterpillar.Eric Carle has won many awards but here are a few,Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, 2001
