Presentation Transcript

Filters In the earlier editions of this book, I used tofeature a technique showing how to imitate alaroid film emulsion transfer. It is now easierto accomplish with the Liquify filter. The imageshown here has a background layer, a tree stumpimage layer (with an associated adjustment layer),and above this, an independent Polaroid emul-sion border layer set to Multiply blend mode.I activated the tree stump image layer and choseLiquify from the Filter menu. I mainly used theurbulence tool plus the clockwise and counter-clockwise twirl tools to create the distortions thatou see here. I then clicked on the Save Mesh buttonto save this distortion so that it could be reused. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for Photographers .photoshopforphotogra&#xwww6;.50;phers.com I then selected Layer 2 (which was the borderimage in Multiply mode) and opened Liquify again. This time I clicked on the Load Mesh button andloaded the recently saved mesh, applying an identi-cal distortion, to produce the result shown here.
