(HHI) , one of Ame rica’s leading humanitarian organizations, is pleased to announce the hiring of James (Jim) P. Mitchum as its new Chief Executiv e Officer. A Kansas City resident, Mitchum most recently served as the President of the Americas for EUSA Pharma in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. “We were delighted with the widespread interest for this position ,” said Bob Lambrechts, HHI board m ember and search committee chair. “Jim rose to the top in this competitive process due to a number of factors including his pharmaceutical industry experience, his international business acumen, and a long - standing personal philosophy that matches with Heart to Heart International.” Mitchum brings more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry including six years with Eli Lilly & Co. as well as a 20 - year span with Marion Laborat ories and its successors. He subsequently held senior - level, international positions at Hoechst Marion Roussel in Germany, Aven tis UK, Aventis Japan, and the Sanofi - Aventis Group. Prior to his most recent tenure at EUSA Pharma, Mitchum was CEO of Enturia , Inc., a Kansas City - based manufacturer of antiseptic devices, before its sale to Cardinal Health in 2008. “I have known about Heart to Heart Inter national since its inception and have been impressed by the incredible work a small team of staff members and volunteers have done to bring medical relief to people around the world,” said Jim Mitchum , “ It will be an honor to lead and to help grow this inspiring organization at a time when natural disasters and the need for humanitarian assistance occur so fre quently.” HHI co - founders Dr. Gary Morsch and Jim Kerr issued a joint statement on the hirin g of Mitchum: “Jim brings a background of mission - related service to Heart to Heart International that commenced with him living in Ethiopia with his missionary pa rents as a teenager. In addition, Jim is ideally suited to work with stakeholders and funders due to his wealth of knowledge tied to the pharmaceutical industry and h is general leadership profile.
