He is also Visiting Professor at Bezmialem Vakif University ,Istanbul,Turkey.Besides his responsibilities as member of the strategic management group of the School, he is also Director of the Prescribing Programme.Dr Younis originally graduated from Cairo University Medical School, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Following graduation, he gained clinical experience in Cairo, Egypt, then Saudi Arabia and Gaza, Palestine, before being offered the post of Lecturer and later Director of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Degree Programme at Bethlehem University, Bethlehem, Palestine. This programme was funded by Save the Ch

ildren to develop the Palestinian rehabilitation sector in response to the ongoing civil con�ict. While in that post, Dr Younis carried out research towards his doctorate entitled Rehabilitation of Spinal Cord Injured People in Palestine, and set up the Palestinian Physiotherapy Association, becoming its �rst President.While completing his thesis at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, Dr Younis’ permit to work in the West Bank was revoked, and after some months deliberation he accepted the post of Lecturer and later Acting Course Director in the School of Health Sciences, Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. cupping confrance final to print.indd 11 11/18/14 12:27 AM Dr Younis’ main areas of teaching are Neurology, Research Methods and Evidence-Based Practice, Medical Statistics and Data Analysis. He has developed a number of blended learning and online courses (including Neurology and Clinical Skills for medical, physiotherapy

and paramedical students), and is completing a book about data analysis and interpretation of results, using SPSS.Dr Younis’ research interests include interdisciplinary education, traumatic brain injury, stroke, prescribing, using different research techniques (including Identity Structure Analysis with Ipseus software). He is also interested in complementary medicine, in particular the recently revived practice of cupping, and is supervising a PhD research examining its ef�cacy. Dr Younis is a founder member of the British Cupping Society, and currently its President.Besides serving on the Faculty Research Ethics Committee and Faculty Quality Committee, Dr Younis’ professional duties include curriculum design and development, and quality assurance.
