1 “The Mystery”

The Mystery 2 Here is the first post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. “ The Revelation of the Mystery ”, what is it, is it Biblical, is it important? What God calls “The Revelation of the Mystery” in Holy scripture may be novel to some as Christendom generally speaking does not use that term. We will learn from the Bible (KJV) the ‘Revelation of the Mystery’ is a complete body of revelation given by God exclusively for an entire Age or Dispensation in His eternal plan. We will learn the ascended Lord Jesus Christ from heaven’s glory chose a particular Apostle to communicate by inspiration (spoken words) the Revelation of the mystery. We will learn this body of revelation is the last revelation communicated by God to man. We will learn the ‘Revelation of the Mystery’ completed the cannon of Holy Scripture. For the Believer today this is the most important revelation to man ever given by Almighty God. To date we have posted Bible study series (about); “Our God Breathed Bible”, “How to Study the Bible” (God’s Way”) and now “The Mystery”; this is a good order of importance for any serious Bible student to become grounded and matured in the faith. God bless you as we begin this study series about the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker I’ve been a Believer for many years and don’t remember any one talking about “the mystery”???? 3 At a Bible conference a guy from Oklahoma wearing cowboy boots answered questions from all over the Bible for three solid hours and he kept referring to the “Revelation of the Mystery”???? What is the Revelation of the Mystery? Is it Biblical? Is it important? Should I know about the Mystery? Post #1

“The Mystery” What mystery are we going to study? 4

5 The Mystery What mystery are we going to Study? Peter speaking of Christ said: Acts 3:21 “Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began .” Paul speaking of Christ said:Romans 16:25 “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,” The Prophecy ProgramThe Mystery Program“God spoke things about Christ since the world begin” Gen. 3:15“God kept things about Christ secret since the world began”DIFFERENT

The Mystery Why is it called “The Mystery” in Holy Scripture? The Mystery was kept secret.A kept secret.Romans 16:25 Where was the secret kept? Ephesians 3:9 Acts 15:18 How far back was the secret kept? Colossians 1:25-26 Ephesians 3:4-56

The Mystery Why does God call it “The Mystery”?What is a Biblical Mystery? Mystery = Greek 3466, Strong’s musterion , moos- tay '- ree-on; from a derivative of muo (to shut the mouth); a secret or “mystery” Note: A Biblical mystery is not like a mystery in a “who done it” novel where the reader is expected to search for clues and try to unravel the mystery. A Biblical mystery is a sacred secret, hid in the mind of God, hid from past ages and generations. At God’s appointed time His secrets are clearly revealed through a chosen servant. Deuteronomy 29:29 7

The Mystery 8 Here is the second post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. For a person to be established with God “now” in this present day, it must be (1) according to Paul’s Gospel and (2) the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the Revelation of the Mystery (Romans 16:24-25). Does this sound, to you, like ‘Paul’s Gospel’ and ‘the Mystery’ both of which God has revealed and canonized with the other scriptures are two things a person should have a working knowledge of? “The Revelation of the Mystery” is the subject of this Bible study series. We will learn from the Holy Scriptures that “Paul’s Gospel” is contained in the revelation of the Mystery. Also from the Bible we will learn ‘the Mystery’ contains a particular way God wants the Lord Jesus Christ preached. We will learn when and through whom the Mystery was revealed and where it can be found in God’s Holy Book the King James Bible. God bless you as we study the series about the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker Ok. The Revelation of the Mystery is not like a mystery novel, as in here are some clues now you solve the mystery if you can. 9 The Revelation of the Mystery is a body of information about God’s Eternal plan that He had not yet made known. A secret God kept hid in His mind until He was ready to implement it. Does God speak clearly about “the Mystery” in the Holy Bible? Post #2

The Mystery 10 For a person to be established with God “now” in this present day, it must be (1) according to Paul’s Gospel and (2) the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the Revelation of the Mystery. Does this sound, to you, like ‘Paul’s Gospel’ and ‘the Mystery’ which God has revealed and canonized with the other scriptures are two things a person should have a working knowledge of? “The Revelation of the Mystery” is the subject of this Bible study series. We will learn from Holy Scriptures that ‘Paul’s Gospel’ is contained in the revelation of the Mystery. Also from the Bible we will learn ‘the Mystery’ contains a particular way God wants the Lord Jesus Christ preached. We will learn when and through whom the Mystery was revealed and where it can be found in God’s Holy Book the King James Bible.

The Mystery Why does God call it “The Mystery”? “The” Mystery. Romans 16:25 The   (definite article) 1-Used before singular or plural nouns and noun phrases that denote a particular or specified thing. 2-Used before a noun, and generally stressed, to emphasize one of a group or type as the most outstanding or prominent. 3- Used to indicate uniqueness. “A” Mystery A (indefinite article) 1-Used before nouns and noun phrases that denote a single but unspecified person or thing.. “The word “Mystery” means “secret” and as used in the Bible means a “sacred secret”. But with the article, it is called The Mystery or The sacred secret. This sets it apart from all other messages that God has revealed to mankind in the Bible.” Robert C. Brock The Essence of Christianity pp A-19

The Mystery Why does God call it “The Mystery”?Additional verses referencing The Mystery . Ephesians 1:8-9 Ephesians 3:2-3 Ephesians 3:4Ephesians 6:19Colossians 4:31Timothy 3:8-912

13 The Mystery The Mystery is a totally unique revelation. Ephesians 3:8 (Outside of the revelation of The Mystery The riches of Christ are unsearchable and untraceable.) 1 Peter 1:10-11 The ProphecyProgram The Mystery (Secret)Program “This makes, then, the Mystery a unique and distinctive message; it is a message that is absolutely different from anything that was preached before it and from anything that will be preached after it. The revelation of the Mystery is in a class by itself, and certainly is not to be mixed with any other Gospel or thought to be part of any other Gospel.” Robert C. Brock The Essence of Christianity pp A-1 Acts 3:21Romans 16:25DIFFERENT

The Mystery 14 Here is the third post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. This is a Bible study series which means there are many parts of the subject to be considered. Therefore each lesson is contiguous with and builds on the previous lessons. We post two lessons per week so one lesson may be studied before the next lesson arrives. Saving each post by going to the upper right corner of the post and clicking on save is encouraged so you will have the studies for future reference or for teaching the study to friends and loved ones. We are learning “the Mystery” is a major revelation and God clearly details who gave it, who it was given to, where and when it was introduced. God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker God certainly does openly and clearly speak about what He chose to call ‘T he Mystery’! 15 So. “ The Mystery” is a unique body of revelation, with a message that is different from all previous or yet future revelations God my give. - Specifically Who gave ‘the Revelation of the Mystery’? - To Whom was ‘the Mystery’ given? - When was it given? Where exactly was ‘the Mystery’ introduced’? Post #3

The Mystery Where did The Mystery come from? The Mystery came from the ascended/glorified Lord Jesus Christ by a direct revelation from Jesus Christ. Galatians 1:11-12 Ephesians 3:2-4 2 Corinthians 12:1,7 16 “The Lord Jesus Christ from heaven revealed His Heart and Mind to the Apostle Paul when He taught him the Revelation of the Mystery. He laid bare His innermost thoughts concerning this dispensation and it’s program.” Robert C. Brock The Essence of Christianity pp A-2

The Mystery Where did The Mystery come from? When and where did Paul receive the Mystery?Where did the ascended Lord not reveal The Mystery? Galatians 1:11-17 (not in Jerusalem nor through a man) Where did the ascended Lord introduce The Mystery? Galatians 1:17-20 (in the Arabian desert personally) 17

The Mystery Where did The Mystery come from? When and where did Paul receive the Mystery?Where do we find the last words of the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ?Acts 1:1-2,3-11Where did Christ go after the cloud received Him out of their sight?Acts 3:18-21 Hosea 5:15Acts 7:55 18

The Mystery Where did The Mystery come from? When and where did Paul receive the Mystery?Where do we find the first words of the ascended and Glorified Lord? Acts 9:1-15 Where do we find the revealed words and instructions of the resurrected, ascended and Glorified Lord?Galatians 1:11-12 Ephesians 3:3 2 Corinthians 12:1,7Romans through Philemon and Hebrews 19

The Mystery 21 Here is the fourth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. The scriptures tell us the body of revelation contained in the Mystery is the last marching orders issued form God to man. One may ask, is one revelation from God more important than any other revelation? If an army is engaged in a battle the General will be issuing a series of orders during the battle. Which order is most important for the Commanders to follow. The one the commander likes the most or perhaps the one he is used to following or maybe the one most popular with his men? Obviously the Commander should follow the last order he received from the General. When a new order is given the Commander should make every effort to understand the order in every detail then instruct his officers who in turn are to train the troops and all together implement the order and carry it out to it’s fullest. God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker So, after Christ was resurrected and after He ascended back to Heaven and resumed all of His former glory Christ appeared to Paul on the Damascus road. 22 Then, when Paul was well enough the Glorified Lord Jesus Christ took Paul into the Arabian desert and there gave Paul a brand new revelation. Since “the Revelation of the Mystery” is the last revelation recorded in the Holy Bible does that mean it is God’s last marching orders for us to follow? Post #4

The Mystery Where did The Mystery come from? The Ministry of The Mystery. Ministry - 1248 διακονία , δωροφορία = Service, ministering, especially of those who execute the commands of others.Acts 20:24Minister - 1249 διάκονος = One who executes the commands of another, especially of a master.Ephesians 3:7Colossians 1:23-27 23

The Mystery Where did The Mystery come from? The Ministry of The Mystery. Col. 1:25-26 “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;” “fulfil” is translated from the Greek word #4137 Fulfil - 4137 πληρόω 1 = To make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full . 2 To render full, i.e. to complete. To fill to the top: so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure, fill to the brim. To consummate: a number. To make complete in every particular, to render perfect.  24Note: What does the word “fulfill” mean in the Greek? It means to “fulfil” just as the scripture says. The KJV translators as always the got it exactly right!‘Complete’ is simply a synonym of ‘fulfil’.

27 Colossians 1: 25   “The mystery” fulfils the Word of God (vs. 25, 26). This statement as to the completion of the Divine revelation is of fundamental importance. It declares the * plenary and **exclusive authority of the Bible. That revelation exists as a totality and so excludes all that man seeks to introduce under the plea of tradition.” The Students Commentary on the Holy Scriptures by George WilliamsCol. 1:25 “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;” 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 (Something fulfilled is complete and therefore perfect.) 2 Corinthians 12:1,7 (The abundance of the ‘revelation of the mystery’ spoken by God to the Apostle Paul fulfilled or completed the cannon of Holy Scripture)*ple·na·ry adj. 1. Complete in all respects.**Sola ScripturaSee Handout #1 Sola Scriptura

28 Sola Scriptura   “Sola scriptura means that the Bible alone is sole authority for all things pertaining to the faith and practice of the Christian. The Bible is complete, authoritative, and true. “ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Tim. 3:16-17   The only way to know for sure what God expects of us is to stay true to what we know He has revealed—the Bible. We can know, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that Scripture is true, authoritative, and reliable. The same cannot be said of tradition. The Word of God is the only authority for the Christian faith. Traditions are valid only when they are based on Scripture alone and are in full agreement with the Bible interpreted dispensationaly. Traditions that contradict the Bible are not of God and are not a valid aspect of the Christian faith. Continued to slide #11pp 1of 2Handout #1 Sola Scriptura

29 Sola scriptura is the only way to avoid subjectivity (thought particular to a given person) and keep personal opinion from taking priority over the teachings of the Bible. The essence of sola scriptura is basing your spiritual life on the Bible alone and rejecting any tradition or teaching that is not in full agreement with the Bible. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim. 2:15 There are many practices and doctrines, in the Christian community, that are the result of traditions, not the explicit teaching of Scripture. In order for these traditions to be valid, they must not be in disagreement with God’s Word. They must be based on the solid foundation of the teaching of Scripture. The problem with church traditions is that they are based on traditions which are based on traditions which are based on traditions, often with the initial tradition not being in full harmony with the Scriptures. That is why Christians must always go back to sola scriptura, the authoritative Word of God, as the only solid basis for faith and practice.” Dave Jolley – I cannot give proper credit for this quotation because I failed to note where or from whom it came from.Continued from slide #10pp 2 of 2

The Mystery 30 Here is the fifth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series.Since the creation, beginning with the first man Adam God has always had a chosen spokesman on earth. The chart below identifies each God ordained spokesman for each Age revealed in the Holy Bible KJV. It is imperative that we believers make certain we are following the spokesman God chose for us in the age in which we live. God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, DaveThe handouts are important supplements to the study guide.

The Thinker Ok, the Mystery revelation is the last revelation God gave for us to follow. 31 All scripture is given by God for our profit and benefit but the last revelation He gave is specifically to us for us and about us and therefore takes precedence. Since I have a body of scripture for me who is God’s spokesman for me? Post #5

The Thinker God chose the Apostle Paul to be the Spokesman for the dispensation of Grace. 38 So that is why God in Romans 16:25 said we are established with Christ, “according to my (Paul’s) gospel,…….. …..and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the Revelation of the Mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.” Post #6

44 Class handouts #6 Through the Bible with Les Feldick Newsletter Apr – May – June 2001   PAUL’S GOSPEL -- By William R. Newell – Part 2 of 2 (continued from last newsletter) There are two great revelations, or unfolders of Divine Truth in the Bible - Moses in the Old Testament, and Paul in the New. Someone may say, "Is not Christ the Great Teacher?" In a sense this is true; but in a real sense Christ is the Person taught about, rather than teaching, in the Gospels. The law and the prophets pointed forward to Christ; the Epistles point back to Him; and the Book of Revelation points to His second coming, and those things connected with it. The Four Gospels tell the story how He was revealed to man, and rejected by them. Christ, Himself, therefore is the theme of the Bible. Moses in the Law reveals God's holiness, and thus by means of the Law reveals human sin, and the utter hopelessness and helplessness of man. Paul in his great Epistles reveals Christ as our Righteousness, Sanctification, Redemption, and All in All. The twelve Apostles (Matthias by Divine appointment taking the place of Judas) were to be the "witnesses" (Acts 1:22) of Christ's resurrection - that is of the fact of it. They were not to unfold fully the doctrine of it, as Paul was. The twelve were with Jesus personally, and knew Him as a man; and when He died they saw it. When He was buried, they knew it personally, as eye-witnesses.Continued to slide #16pp 1 of 4

45 And when He was raised, they found it out experientially, visiting His actual tomb, and seeing that it was empty. They were also to see and handle the physical, risen body of our Lord. And it was with them that our Lord abode on earth forty days after His resurrection, "showing Himself alive (physically, in a body) by many infallible proofs" (Acts 1:3). *Christ, when on earth, did not "start' anything. He said, in Matt. 16:18: "I will build My Church;" but He had not yet built it. He was a "Minister of the circumcision," (Romans15:8; Matt. 15:24); and though He taught it was to discover to men their helplessness, and lead them to rely on Him. Finally, all failed in Gethsemane. Then came the Cross and the end of all things human. Then the resurrection, and a new beginning. This great fact -- that is, that the Person that the Jews themselves well knew they had crucified and buried, was risen from the dead and ascended to heaven-this tremendous fact the twelve Apostles witnessed to Israel at Jerusalem, and everywhere else. Thus we find the opening chapters of the Book of Acts filled with the single testimony that Jesus of Nazareth had risen from the dead; and that remission of sins was through Him. But unto none of these twelve Apostles did God reveal the great body of doctrine for this age. Just as God chose Moses to be the revelator to Israel of the Ten Commandments, and all connected with the Law dispensation; so God chose Saul of Tarsus be the revelator and unfolder of those mighty truths connected with our Lord's Continued rom slide #15 Continued to slide #16 pp 2 of 4

46 burial, resurrection, and His ascended Person. And all the "mysteries" or "secrets" revealed to God's people in this dispensation by the Holy Ghost are revealed by Paul. Finally, Paul is the unfolder of that great company of God's elect, called the Church, the Body of Christ, the individuals of which body are called members of the Body of Christ - members of Christ Himself. No other Apostle speaks of these things. Peter himself had to learn them from Paul (II Peter 3:15-16). When Paul finishes his thirteen great Epistles (Romans to Philemon), those which belong to the Church, God indeed permits him to give a message to the Hebrews. This is not part of the Church's doctrine but is simply explaining to Hebrew Christians the character, the real application, the typical meaning, of their Levitical system - that is, how it pointed forward to Christ. James addresses his Epistle to "the twelve tribes" - that is, his Epistle has special reference to the Jewish Christians in the early days, and to such throughout the dispensation, for that matter. Peter writes to "the strangers who are sojourners of the Dispersion," that is, to the dispersed Jews who acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah. In the second of Galatians we are distinctly told by Paul, that James, Cephas and John were to go to the circumcision, while Paul tells us that his message was to the Gentiles. Since then the testimony by the Jewish Apostles to the Jews was duly given, there is now no distinction between Jews and Gentiles; and Paul's message holds good for the world, both Jews and Gentiles. Continued rom slide #15 Continued to slide #16 pp 3 of 4

47 Continued rom slide #15 So that we find Paul finally sets the Jewish nation aside in The last chapter of the Book of Acts, and opens his great Epistle to the Gentile center of the world with the statement that "there is no difference" between men; for "all have sinned;" and that there is again "no difference," for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shalI be saved," since the same Lord is "Lord of all" (Rom. 3:22-23 and Rom. 10:12). God does as He pleases, and it pleased Him to choose - first to save people in this dispensation through "the foolishness of preaching," or the "preached thing"- that is, through the message about the Cross, and what was done there (See I Cor. 1:21). And second, it pleased Him to choose Paul to be the great proclaimer and revealer of just what the Gospel is for this dispensation. You can judge any man's preaching or teaching by this rule - is he Pauline? Does his doctrine start and finish according to those statements of Christian doctrine uttered by the Apostle Paul? No matter how wonderful a man may seem in his gifts and apparent consecration - if his Gospel is not Pauline, it is not the Gospel; and we might as well get our minds settled at once as to that. Paul calls down the anathema - that is the curse of God Himself - upon anyone who preaches any other Gospel than that which he declared (Gal. 1). pp 4 of 4

The Mystery 48 Here is the seventh post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. While what was revealed in the Prophesized Program (that which was spoken by the mouths of the prophets since the world began Acts 3:21) is for our learning, the Mystery revelation (that which was kept secret since the world began but is now revealed through the Apostle Paul Romans 16:25) is for our doctrine and practice during the Aged of Grace. The Thinker Ok I’ve got it, God made a program change and called a new Spokesman for the new Age. 49 Saul (Paul’s given Hebrew name) is called to be the Apostle Paul , ( Paul was his given Greek name) to be ‘the’ Apostle of the Mystery (secret) Age of Grace.Just what is this new Mystery age all about? Why did God include this Age in His Eternal Plan for the Ages? How is it different than the other Ages of God’s plan? Post #7

The Mystery 52 Here is the eighth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. Paul was called to preach (introduce, teach, make known) the “unsearchable riches of Christ” referenced in Eph 3:8. Unsearchable means that something is nowhere to be found. God tells us the “riches of Christ” were never revealed because they were kept hidden in the mind of God until His newest Apostle, Paul, was given the Revelation of the Mystery. The first of the many riches of Christ to be considered is God’s creation of a new entity with whom He will have relationship on the earth. Remember, with the raising up of the Apostle Paul God began a new dispensation. This coincides with the setting aside the nation of Israel (the entity with whom God had relationship for the previous 1500 years apx .) and the end of the Dispensation of Law. Please note the chart below and the chart in Post #5.God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. The Thinker “The Unsearchable Riches of Christ” Wow! So, this is what is contained in the mystery that Paul was given to Preach. 53 The Revelation of the Mystery was revealed exclusively to the Apostle Paul and can only be found in Paul’s 13 Epistles namely Romans through Philemon!!! Alright! I want to know all about the riches of Christ one by one that Paul preached. Lets Go! Post #8

The Mystery 61 Here is the nineth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. “How is a person saved?” This is one of the most often asked and debated questions in Christendom. To be saved; what is necessary, who initiates it, what are the steps and in what order, is a saved person secure or not secure, can you know, how can you know, etc., etc., etc.? In the Mystery revelation, God has spoken and given a clear way to settle this important question. God has identified a person and their salvation as a pattern for all to follow. Hear God, “Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. [1Ti 1:16 KJV] May I suggest that a blank page in your Bible could be used to make a list of verses, with your notes, taken from the Mystery revelation that concern Paul’s salvation and what is said about being saved in the Epistles Paul wrote, Romans - Philemon. The list should be added too whenever you are reading your Bible KJV. Who’s salvation is the pattern to follow?God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. The Thinker So, The Church the Body of Christ replaces the Nation of Israel as the entity with whom God has relationship during the new Age of Grace. 62 I’ve got it, everyone who is saved during the Dispensation of Grace is saved into the Body of Christ. Who was the first sinner saved by the grace and love of the Lord Jesus Christ as a pattern for the rest of us saved into the Body of Christ? Post #9

The Mystery 68 Here is the tenth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. Just what is a Dispensation of God? How is one dispensation distinguished from another dispensation? What is God’s purpose for having different dispensations in His plan for the Ages? Does the Bible specifically speak about Dispensations? The Mystery 75 Here is the eleventh post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. The Mystery reveals it’s own unique ‘Good News’ or ‘Gospel’. The Mystery 78 Here is the twelveth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. The Gospel of the Grace of God has a different focus than the Gospel of the Kingdom which Christ, Peter and the twelve taught before the calling of Paul and the Mystery revelation. The theme of the four gospels was the promised Messiah was here ready to be Israel’s King and set up His 1,000 year Kingdom of Heaven on earth. All Israel had to do was accept Jesus of Nazareth as their Messiah King. Hidden was the fact that per God’s foreknowledge Israel would reject Christ at His first advent and Christ the perfect lamb of God would fulfill all of the prophecies concerning the suffering Servant and His sacrificial offering. The Mystery Gospel picks up shortly after Peter’s lamenting Christ’s death on the day of Pentecost where he accused Israel of murdering the Lord of Glory and called on them to repent of it. Even as the Prophecies concerning the how of the Saviors death began to come into focus the why was hidden in the mind of God until the Revelation of the Mystery was given through Paul. Only in the Mystery do we learn it was by the suffering of Christ, the shedding of the Savior’s blood, His death, His burial in the tomb and His resurrection from the dead that God would be justified in passing over the penalty for sin due the believer. Only in Paul’s gospel is the shedding of innocent blood on the cross, the death, burial and resurrection of Christ glorified and held up as the means by which a person who believes it in faith is saved.God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker Ok, we have a new Revelation with a new Dispensation with a new Spokesman with a new Gospel. 79 “The Gospel of the Grace of God” is the “Good News” taught by the risen Christ to be preached by the Apostle Paul and the believers during the Age of Grace. The Gospel of the Grace of God is the good news about what Christ did to secure salvation for all those that believe by trusting His death burial and resurrection as the answer to their sin problem. In the previous post we let God teach us through His written word about His grace, the cross, the shed blood of the Son as justification for God not punishing the believer for their sin. 92 Through the Bible with Les Feldick Newsletter Jul - Aug - Sep 2001 PAUL’S GOSPEL -- By William R. Newell – Part 2 of 2 Not for one moment are we to believe that James, Peter and John were at variance with Paul-not in the least. They were given certain things by the Spirit, to say to certain classes of people. They do not conflict with Paul. And their words are included in the statement that "All Scripture is profitable" (II Timothy 3:16). But, nevertheless, Paul is the declarer and revealer of the Gospel to us. Take Romans to Philemon out of the Bible and you are bereft of Christine doctrine. For instance, if you were to take Paul's Epistles out of the Bible, you cannot find anything about the Church, the Body of Christ, for no other Apostle mentions the Body of Christ. You cannot find one of the great mysteries, such as the Rapture of the Church (I Thes. 4, 1 Cor. 15) or the mystery of the present hardening of Israel (Rom. 11). No other Apostle speaks of any of those mysteries. Paul alone reveals them-the great doctrines such as Justification, Redemption, Sanctification. And what is perhaps the most tremendous fact of every real Christian life, that of this personal union to the Lord in glory. Paul is the great divinely chosen opener to us of truth for this age. The great doctrines that Paul reveals may be outlined as follows:1. The unrighteousness before God of all men.Class handouts #7pp 1 of 5Continues on next slide

93 pp 2 of 5 Continues on next slide Continued from previous slide 2. The impossibility of justification by works before God-that is, of any man's attaining a standing of righteousness before God, by anything done by him. Do what a man may, he is a condemned sinner still. 3. The fact and the scripturalness of righteousness on the free gift principle-that is, of a Divine righteousness, separate from all man's doings, conferred upon man as a free gift from God. 4. Propitiation: That satisfaction of God's Holy nature and law for man's sins rendered by Christ's blood,5. Reconciliation: The removal, by Christ's death for man of that obstacle to righteousness which man's sin had set up between God and man.6. The plan of the actual conferring of the gift of righteousness upon all who believe, without any distinction, This change of a sinner's standing before God, from one of condemnation to one of righteousness, is called Justification, Negatively, it is deliverance from guilt on account of Christ's shed blood, and deliverance out of the old creation, by identification in death with Christ on the Cross. Positively, it is a new standing in the risen Christ before God.7. Redemption-the buying back of the soul through the blood of Christ from sin, from the curse of the law- even death, involving, exclusion from God, under penalty; from the "power of death," which involves the hand of he enemy; and from all iniquity.8. Forgiveness-the going forth of Divine tenderness in remitting penalty for sin, in view of the blood of Christ trusted in; and in complacency and fellowship, to creatures who before we're necessarily under Divine judgment.

94 pp 3 of 5 Continues on next slide Continued from previous slide 9. Remission of sins-that is, the actual removing of transgressions or trespasses from the sinner, so that for all time and eternity his sins shall not again be upon him. 10. Identification- (see above, Justification) the great fact that those who are in Christ were united with Him at the Cross, by God's sovereign inscrutable act; were crucified with Christ and buried with Him; so that their history is now ended before God; and when Christ was raised up as the First-born of the new creation, they also were raised up with Him, and their history began as new creatures in God's sight, in Christ, the last Adam. Of course, in the experience of the Christian, there comes a time when he is actually made partaker of this new life-that point of time when he is, as we say, saved, or converted, or born again, etc. Nevertheless, the life that is in every Christian came up out of the tomb, and it is in Christ Jesus that a man is created anew. 11. Incorporation. This tremendous doctrine Paul alone mentions, and he makes it practically the foundation of all his exhortations to the saints with regard to their conduct and life. By "incorporation" we mean the fact that all those who are really saved and are new creatures in Christ Jesus become members of one organism, which is more real than the very earth we tread upon called "the Body of Christ,"-Christ Himself in heaven being the Head of this Body, and every real Christian a member of it. So that believers are thus members of Christ in heaven, and also members one of another here on earth. No wonder Paul is able to exhort the saints to love one another when they are members one of another! (Rom. 12, 1 Cor. 12 and Eph. 4).12. Inhabitation. The wonderful fact that the Body of Christ and each member of it individually is inhabited, indwelt, by the Holy Spirit Himself, and not only so, but that

95 pp 4 of 5 Continued on next slide Continued from previous slide the Church is being "built together" as a great temple of God so that in the future God's actual eternal dwelling place will be this wonderful, mysterious company built into a building called "a holy habitation of God in the Spirit." This mystery is a great and marvelous one, the fact that we are saved, are partakers now of the life of the Lord in glory, that the Holy Spirit indwells us. 13. Divine Exhibition - that is, that through the Church, in the ages to come, is to be made known that which God counts His "riches," even His Grace (Eph. 2:7; 3:10). The failure or refusal to discern the Pauline Gospel as a separate and new revelation and not a "development from Judaism," accounts for two-thirds of the confusion in many people's minds today as regards just what the Gospel is. Paul's Gospel will suffer no admixture with works on the one hand or religious pretensions and performances on the other. It is as simple and clear as the sunlight from heaven. The end of man is where God begins in Romans 3, at what might be called the opening of the Pauline Revelation. Most unsaved people today believe in their hearts that the reason they are not saved is because of something they have not yet done, some step that remains for them to take before God will accept them. But this is absolutely untrue. When Christ said, "It is finished," He meant that He had, then and there, paid the debt for the whole human race. "He gave Himself a ransom for all" (I Tim. 2:6). If you tell a man that God is demanding no good works of him whatsoever, no religious observances or church ordinances, that God is not asking him to undertake any duties at all, but that God invites him to believe a glad message that his sins have already been dealt with at the Cross, and that God expects him to believe this

96 Continues from previous slide good news and be exceedingly happy about it - if you tell an unsaved man such a story as this, he is astonished and overwhelmed - yet this is the Gospel! Would that we had grace just as vigorously to defend his great message today, whether from its enemies or its real friends who do not see it clearly as yet; or who, like Peter (Gal. 2), through fear of others, are ready to compromise and tone down the Gospel of God.   pp 5 of 5

The Mystery 97 Here is the fourteenth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. For the 2,000 years prior to God raising up the apostle Paul and giving him the revelation of the Mystery, the Bible centered on one man (Abraham) and his family which over time grew into a great nation (God’s favored Nation of Israel). This period in God’s timeline covered the Dispensation of Promise and then the Dispensation of Law. The Revelation of the Mystery introduced a new all encompassing program and brought into being a new Dispensation, a new Church, a new Gospel etc., all in accord with God’s eternal plan decided before creation but kept a mystery (secret) with God. In God’s foreknowledge Israel would reject Christ their Messiah and in so doing be set aside for a time providing for God to bless the Gentiles not through Israel but through Israel’s fall. In this lesson we will hear God in His inspired (spoken) words teach about Israel’s fall and the setting aside of the nation of Israel until God’s appointed time to restore them to their favored status among the nations.God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker Well then, t he preaching of and the glorifying of Grace , the Cross , the shed Blood of Christ, His Death and resurrection is central to “the Gospel of the Grace of God”.98 But, the raising up of Christ from the dead is God’s crowning achievement of the Good News of the “the Mystery”, “the Gospel of the Grace of God”. The “unsearchable riches of Christ” uniquely revealed through Paul in ‘the Mystery’ that we have looked at so far are: 1) the formation a new entity, the Body of Christ , 2) the un-prophesized Dispensation of Grace , 3) the Gospel of the grace of God . The Mystery 105 Here is the fifteenth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. In His Book God prescribed how the Holy scriptures are to be approached. The key to understanding the Bible KJV is to study God’s Book Gods way. Hear God: “ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Timothy 2:15 KJV) God’s way to rightly divide truth from truth is to use God’s ordained time line. In this lesson we will place the truths we have learned about Israel being set aside and the new entity the Body of Christ being the entity with which God presently has relationship into God’s time line for the ages. God’s Threefold Division of Time 108 Time Past In Times past you were Gentiles in the flesh by birth. Gentiles were called “uncircumcision” by the Jews. Jews were circumcised by human hands i.e. by an Israelite Priest. Gentiles were without Christ. Gentiles were aliens from the commonwealth (Nation) of Israel. Strangers from the covenants of promise. Gentiles had no hope. Gentiles were without God in the world.Eph 2:11-12Time: Gen 1:3-5, Eccl 3:1

God’s Threefold Division of Time 109 But Now Gentile believers are in Christ. Gentiles believers are made near to God by the Blood of Christ. Christ is the believers (Jews and Gentiles) peace. Christ has made believing Jews and believing Gentiles one entity (The Body of Christ). Christ has broken down the wall that partitioned Jews from Gentiles. Christ in His flesh did away with the law and the ordinances of the law. In Christ there is one new man (The Body of Christ) that dwells in peace.Gal. 5:6Gal. 6:15Col. 3:10-11All believers whether they were Jew or Gentile are reconciled unto God in one body by the cross. The cross work of Christ did away with the law.Eph 2:13-16Time: Gen 1:3-5, Eccl 3:1

The Mystery 113 Here is the sixteenth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. Major changes occurred when the Dispensation of Grace began. The Body of Christ becomes the entity into which all believers are placed just as the Nation of Israel had been during the previous Dispensation of Law. After a short transition period the Messianic Church ceased functioning and all new Jewish and Gentile believers were baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ (1Cor.12:12-13). The Thinker Ok, we have rightly divided the truths God revealed about His dispensational change from Israel being God’s favored entity to the Body of Christ…….. 114 …..being the entity God chooses to have fellowship with now and then into a future dispensation when the Body of Christ will rule with Christ in the Heavenlies and Israel will again be the head nation on the earth. The Mystery 128 Here is the eighteenth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. If there is a single subject in Christendom that is a ‘hot button’ for controversy, it is the belief a person or entity holds concerning the doctrine of Baptism. Wars have been fought, martyrs blood has stained the ground, the stench of burning flesh has filled the air, friendships have been severed, heated arguments have ensued and more, all over how Baptism is practiced. In the Revelation of the Mystery, God is very definite about the doctrine of Baptism for the Church, the Body of Christ, during the Dispensation of Grace. One of the unsearchable riches of Christ made known by the inspiration of God through the Apostle Paul and included in the ‘seven fold unity of the Spirit’ list is the “ one Baptism”.God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. 135 July 20, 2008   "We teach that the work of the Holy Spirit in this age began at Pentecost, when He came from the Father as promised by Christ (John 14:16-17; 15:26) to initiate and complete the building of the Body of Christ, which is His church (1 Corinthians 12:13)."     Dear Pastor _(withheld)_,    The above statement is taken from a document Brother _(withheld)_ gave me several months ago that was purported to be resource material for an official statement that was being developed which would set forth what Grace Fellowship Church teaches. The quotation above concerned me when I first read it, but I discounted it thinking the statement surely could not find its way into what a Bible believing Church would teach, and I let it go at that. When Linda and I listened to your recorded sermon titled “The Church is Born (Acts 2:1-4)” we were really taken back as we heard you teaching the content of the From the Desk of Dave Jolley Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15 Teacher Class handout #5 Did the Body of Christ began at Pentecost? Continued on next slide pp 1 of 7

136 Continued on next slide statement referenced above from the pulpit. The content of thought contained in the above referenced statement I find is not only extra biblical it is in direct opposition to what the Holy Spirit made abundantly clear in the Bible text as to what happened on the day of Pentecost and why it happened. What happened at Pentecost? Believing Jews and Gentile proselytes to Judaism were filled with the Holy Spirit after being baptized by Christ with the Holy Spirit as promised in Matthew 3:11 and Acts 1:4-5.   Acts 2:1-4 (KJV) “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Matthew 3:11 (KJV) “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he (Christ) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”Acts 1:4-5 (KJV) “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he (Christ), ye have heard of me. [5] For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” pp 2 of 7

137 Continued on next slide pp 3 of 7 Why did the events at Pentecost take place? Please consider the explanation given in the Holy Record:   Acts 2:14-21 (KJV) “But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you , and hearken to my words : [15] For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. [16] But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; [17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your(Israel’s) sons and your(Israel’s) daughters shall prophesy, and your(Israel’s) young men shall see visions, and your(Israel’s) old men shall dream dreams: [18] And on my(Israel’s) servants and on my(Israel’s) handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: [19] And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: [20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: [21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Note: Please read Joel Chapters two and three in context and notice this prophecy is about the “last days” of Israel’s disbursement and the second coming of Christ to restore Israel and establish His thousand year reign on earth. This ties in completely with what the Holy Spirit inspired Peter to preach as a further explanation of what was taking place at Pentecost. Please consider this text:

138 Continued on next slide pp 4 of 7 Acts 3:18-21 (KJV) “But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. [19] Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when(so) the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord ; [20] And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you : [21] Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”  The statement of what you teach directly opposes what the Bible says in the verses above when it states: “….the work of the Holy Spirit in this age began at Pentecost…..” The prophet Joel could not have known anything about the “Body of Christ” or this “present age” of grace which was yet to be revealed to the Apostle Paul some 8 or 9 years after Pentecost. Please consider the following verses.  Romans 16:25 (KJV) “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my(Paul’s) gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,” Ephes. 3:2-5 (KJV) “If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me(Paul) to youward: [3] How that by revelation he(Glorified Christ) made known unto me(Paul) the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, [4] Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my(Paul) knowledge in the mystery of Christ) [5] Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;”

139 Continued on next slide pp 5 of 7 Joel’s prophecy was for and about Israel only. Joel’s prophecy was partially fulfilled in early Acts beginning with the baptism with and the filling with the Holy Spirit of believing (Messianic) Israel at Pentecost. The prophecy of Joel will be fulfilled in its entirety when the Mystery program concludes with the rapture of the completed Body of Christ and Israel’s Prophecy program resumes.    According to God’s inspired explanation what happened in Acts chapter two was a prophesied “last days” event and had nothing to do with the “beginning” of this age or the “initiating” of the Church of this age the Body of Christ as the statement in question says: “….this age began at Pentecost…., …. to initiate and complete the building of the Body of Christ, which is His church….”.  Further, the statement in question uses 1 Corinthians 12:13 as a parallel event with Acts 1:4-5 and Acts 2:4 which is like paring and folding a sock and a wash cloth together and placing them in the sock drawer; they just don’t match. In Acts 1:4-5 Christ is the Baptizer filling individual Israelites and proselytes to Judaism with the Holy Spirit which was accompanied with attending signs. In 1 Corinthians 12:13 the Holy Spirit is the Baptizer placing individuals from all nations into a wholly different entity from Israel, namely Christ’s Body and without accompanying outward signs. Please consider these verses: And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have

140 heard of me. [5] For John truly baptized with water; but ye(men of Israel) shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence . 1 Cor. 12:13 (KJV) “For by one Spirit are we(members of the Body of Christ) all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”   Note also: “drinking of (receiving) the Spirit” is without signs compared to “filled with the Spirit” as at Pentecost and during early Acts which was accompanied with signs ie “tongues”.  Acts 2:4 (KJV) “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” When we had lunch together just before Linda and I left for Utah I asked you to share your interpretation of John 14:1-4, and contrary to Ryrie, Schofield and most modern commentators on Scripture, to my joy, you said the Rapture was not the subject of these verses, rather they are a reference to the second coming of Christ to rescue Israel and set up His earthly kingdom. As I remember the reason you gave for this interpretation is the Rapture of the Body of Christ could not have been the subject of the text of John’s Gospel because the Gospels are part of the old covenant with Israel, and the plan for the Body of Christ was yet held secret in the mind of God along with the mystery of the Rapture of that Body (1Cor. 15:51. Yet the statement in questionContinued on next slidepp 6 of 7

141 pp 7 of 7 uses verses uses verses 16 and 17 in John chapter 14 by saying the filling of the Messianic believers with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost had a direct reference to the initiating and building of the Body of Christ. This is contrary to the logic used to conclude the first four verses of the chapter are not referring to the Rapture of the Body of Christ, how then could verses sixteen and seventeen apply to Christ’s Body the Church of this present age. In order to make application to the Body of Christ of any verses from John chapter fourteen Old Testament statements to Israel would have to be “spiritualized”.   Brother William, I hope and have prayed this letter does not come across too blunt, I certainly do not want it to offend in any way. I feel we are both mature brothers in Christ so I just got right to the points I wanted to make. Since you have been kind enough to read this letter I am asking you as a personal favor to indulge me a bit further by watching the enclosed DVD by Richard Jordon a Grace Pastor from Chicago and President of Grace School of the Bible; the DVD contains four thirty minute teachings on the subject of “Church” from a strictly Biblical view.  A fellow Ambassador of the Gospel of Reconciliation, Dave

The Mystery 142 Here is the nineteenth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. We will continue with the sometimes controversial subject of Baptism. God in the Revelation of the Mystery is very specific about His will concerning baptism during this present Age of Grace. For the Church the Body of Christ is baptism an operation carried out by man? Or is it an operation God reserved to Himself? God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

Then a meaning more and more profound and mysterious was assigned to them. They were amplified, and gestures familiar to the pagans added ...It is sometimes very difficult to tell exactly from which pagan rite a particular Christian rite is derived, but it remains certain that the spirit of pagan ritualism became by degrees impressed upon Christianity, to such an extent that at last the whole of it might be found distributed through its ceremonies" (Guignebert, p. 121). 152 By the end of the second century the Mass had taken shape. "Based partly on the Judaic Temple service, partly on Greek mystery rituals of purification, vicarious sacrifice, and participation through communion in the death-overcoming powers of the deity, the Mass grew slowly into a rich congeries of prayers, psalms, readings, sermon, antiphonal recitations, and, above all, that symbolic atoning sacrifice of the `Lamb of God'..." (Will Durant, Caesar and Christ , p. 599). Overcome by the society around it, the religion that was now known as Christianity threatened to fragment into scores of uninspired and misguided creeds. One writer counted 80 heresies circulating among these so-called Christians. Wave upon wave of new doctrine and heresy inundated the churches. The Mystery 197 Here is the twenty seventh post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. We will now move to numbers 12 and 13 of the unsearchable riches of Christ revealed in the Mystery. The coming of Christ is a popular subject and surely the most talked about prophetic future event among Christians. Much confusion exists among Bible teachers on this subject. The Bible speaks of two events related to the Lord’s coming. The first if these events is called the ‘Day of Christ’ and the second is called the ‘Day of the Lord’. Of the unsearchable riches of Christ #12 deals with the coming of Christ in the air for the out calling His Church the Body of Christ (the Day of Christ). And #13 deals with the pouring out of the wrath of God (the Day of the Lord) and the Body of Christ’s deliverance from that wrath to come. God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker Ok, the Lord Jesus Christ after His body had been broken beyond recognition and His blood had been shed unto death and after He ascended from the grave back to His former Glory in heaven. He returned to call His newest Apostle and gave Paul the Revelation of the Mystery. 198 Included in the Revelation of the Mystery are specific instructions to the Body of Christ on how and why we are to intimately remember and celebrate Christ’s sacrificial offering at the cross. Only in the Mystery does God reveal why His Son’s death is cause for our celebration. By Christ’s death the believer is made holy and unblameable before God. (Col 1:22) As we celebrate His death we are told we are also celebrating His imminent return. For God said, “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come .” (1Cor 11:26) This revelation will lead us to the next of the “unsearchable riches of Christ” in our study. 199 The Day of ChristvsThe Day of the Lord The Rapture vs The Second Coming

The Mystery The unsearchable riches of Christ uniquely revealed in The Mystery.“The Day of Christ” vs “ The Day of the Lord” “The Day of Christ” (The Lord’s coming in the air to rapture the Church the Body of Christ), kept secret since the world began but is now revealed.Phil 1:6-10, 2:15-16, 2Thes 2:1-2, 1 Cor 1:7-81Thes 5:4-5, 6-11 (The rapture of the Church the body of Christ will not be “overtaken as by a thief”.) 200 The Church the Body of Christ will be delivered from “the Day of the Lord” by “the Day of Christ”!

The Mystery The unsearchable riches of Christ uniquely revealed in The Mystery.“The Day of Christ” vs “ The Day of the Lord” “The Day of the Lord” (The Lord’s second coming to the earth), spoken of by the prophets since the world begin. Zephaniah 1:14-18, 1-18 (“The Day of the Lord” is a day of wrath, trouble, distress, darkness, gloominess etc., etc..) Isaiah 2:12, 12-21 (The Lord alone will be exalted in “that Day”.) 1Thes 5:2-3 (“Will come as a thief in the night…,”)Rev 19:11-21, 20:1-7 (Christ’s second coming as King of Kings.) 201

202 The Day of Christ refers to the Rapture as set forth in verse 1 (Phil. 1:6).  Commentary 2 Thessalonians 2: The Day of the Lord is a very important Old Testament theme of prophecy (Isa. 2:12) that involves the Nation of Israel in the Tribulation Period and the Millennium. Paul had taught them this truth during his stay in Thessalonica. After leaving them, they became confused. He had to tell them in his first letter to them (1 Thess. 5:2) that the Day of the Lord would come as a thief in the night, that is, unannounced. They had gone through many trials of suffering, and this contributed to their confusion because 'suffering' will be a major characteristic of the Tribulation Period. They thought the Tribulation Period had begun.   But the Rapture of the Body of Christ, the Day of Christ, must come first, and then the Day of the Lord will come in. The man of sin will be revealed; he will set himself up as 'god' in Israel's Temple (Matt. 24:15 - the abomination of desolation - Dan. 9:27); and he will be destroyed at the Second Coming of Christ.  So, as a good teacher of God's Word, Paul gave some contrasts in this chapter (2Thes. 2:2) between the Rapture, the Day of Christ, and the “Day of the Lord”. The Rapture, the Day of Christ, is mentioned in verses l,3(departure),7(he be taken out of the way); and the Day of the Lord is mentioned in verses 3(man of sin),4,6(his time),8-12. The Thinker Before we believers of this present Age of Grace go to heaven to forever be with the Lord are we going to be Judged? 213 Yes! We members of the Church the Body of Christ will stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ. Christ will judge us on how we built upon the foundation He had the Apostle Paul lay and by the commandments Christ gave in the revelation of the mystery. When will the Judgment Seat of Christ take place? What is the the consequence of our judgment? Post #29

The Mystery 215 1Corinthians 3:10. The risen Christ, through the Apostle Paul, has given some important instructions to His children in how they are to serve Him. Paul was the one who laid down the foundation of the assembly; not Peter or John but Paul. He was the masterbuilder, the superintendent who knew all the details. (This is not the same 'foundation' as mentioned in Isa. 28:16. See note on Ron. 9:33). The standard of preaching and teaching that we must maintain is 'according to' (Gr. KATA) the grace of God given to Paul. This is directly related to the Mystery of 1 Cor. 2:1,7; Ro. 16:25, and Eph. 3:1-4. We must rightly divide the Bible in order to be consistent in our belief and practices (2 Tim. 2:15). Those who build on the foundation of Christ Jesus are to be of the 'same kind' (Gr. ALTOS); that is, ones who preach and teach the same things Paul did. This leaves out those who are persuaded that Israel's Kingdom gospel is the one to proclaim. HEIEROS, which means 'another of a different kind', is the Greek word that describes them (Gal. 1:6,19). There is a warning and a command in verse 10: 'take heed how' he or she serves the Lord. Mast believers don't think this is important, but God does. Everything we do for the Lord is going to be tested by fire at the Judgment Seat of Christ. The believer will be rewarded according to what was done in relation to Pauline revelation . By Robert C. Brock “Unveiling Christianity’ pp41Note: Comment on 1Corinthians 3:5-15 previous slide.

The Mystery 217 MYSTERY, verse 9. The 'Mystery of the faith' is that which belongs to the faith of Christianity. It is that truth which the risen Christ revealed to the Apostle Paul (Ro. 16:25). Now this truth of the Mystery is one of the requirements for a servant or deacon in the local assembly. But how many deacons or other servants in the local assembly know anything about the revelations given to the Apostle Paul? About the only 'mysteries' that are preached in the average church are the 'mysteries' of Matthew 13, the mysteries of the Kingdom of heaven. This shows us how disobedient the churches are to the teachings of the risen Christ. The churches, which are supposed to take a stand for the Lord Jesus Christ, are not living up to His teachings. A revival is definitely needed in the thousands of churches that are scattered all over the world. Robert C. Brock “Unveiling Christianity’ pp41 Note: Comment on 1Timothy 3:9 previous slide.

The Mystery 220 Here is the twenty ninth post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. We will now continue with number 15 of the unsearchable riches of Christ revealed in the Mystery. In the ‘Revelation of the Mystery’, revealed through God’s chosen recipient the Apostle Paul, more is said about the ministry of the Holy Spirit than through any other Bible writer . We will learn from God’s Holy Book that: While we were hopelessly dead in our sins we encountered the mercy of the Holy Spirit as He quickened us by the washing of regeneration and renewal to spiritual life. The moment we believed our encounter with the Holy Spirit continued as He performed our spiritual baptism into the Body of Christ and authenticated and sealed our redemption in Christ forever. The Holy Spirit fills us; and teaches us the truth from God’s Holy Book so we can enjoy and practice the graces necessary for a successful Christian walk. God desires us to walk in the Spirit (the Holy Spirit) so we will not follow after our carnal nature but instead be filled with the fruit of the Spirit (The Holy Spirit) which are the gracious attributes of God such as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…,. The Thinker Ok. The end result of the Judgment Seat of Christ when the works of those saved during the Age of Grace are judged will be for rewards or the loss of rewards and this will determine our status in the service of Christ for eternity future. 221 God said those who are saved by grace through faith “are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained we should walk in them”. 226 Class handouts #11 "BE FILLED, verse 18. Believers are commanded by their Lord to be filled by the Holy Spirit. Filled ' with what? With the fruits of righteousness (Phil. 1:11; with all knowledge (Ron. 15:14); with the accurate knowledge of His will (Col. 1:9); with all joy and peace (Ran. 15:13); and with the fulness of God (Eph. 3:19). You can see that the emphasis in the above verses is on knowing the Word of God, of learning what the Bible teaches, of understanding God's purposes as found in the Old Testament and in the New Testament; and in particular, Paul's letters to the Assembly which is His Body. When the believer grows spiritually in grace, the Holy Spirit, Who has been poured out upon us richly through the Lord Jesus Christ (Titus 3:6), will help bring about the conditions which result from being filled by the Spirit, as given to us in Ephesians 5:19-21. This filling by the Spirit is not the same as that mentioned in the early chapters of Acts (Acts 2:4; 4:8,31; 6:3,5; 7:55 - six times). That filling of the Holy Spirit was in anticipation of the Millennial Kingdom, and the signs mentioned by the Lord in Mark 16:17-20 did indeed follow those who believed. But when Stephen was stoned to death, there is no more mention of the filling of the Spirit in relation to Israel, the other 3 times in Acts of the filling of the Spirit is in connection with the Apostle Paul and Barnabas (Acts 9:17; 11:24; 13:9). In conclusion, the filling by the Spirit today is a different type of filling than the filling of the Spirit in the early chapters of Acts. Back then it had to do with power to perform miracles; today it has to do with knowing the Word of God and the Christian graces that are a necessary part of Christian living.” By Robert C. Brock PP 1 of 1 Commentary Ephesians 5:18

227 Class handouts #12 "The key-words of the section (16-26) are "flesh" and " Spirit." The works of the flesh are manifold and often mutually quarrelsome, and they are more in number than the fruit of the Spirit. The "fruit," not the "fruits," of the Spirit is a unity and always harmonious. The richer vocabulary for sins than for graces is a proof of human corruption; seventeen works of the flesh are detailed, but only nine manifestations of the Sprit.   “The flesh" is a term expressing human nature as estranged from God.  The verb "fulfil" (v. 16) proves the existence of this corrupt nature in the believer. It declares the consciousness of corrupt desires, and the enjoyment of victory through The power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. |  "Ye shall not fulfil" (v. 16)—" Ye may not do" (v. 17, R.V.). These statements promise victory over all the power of the nature—a victory which cannot be secured by legal efforts of self repression (v . 18).  "Wrath" (v. 20), i.e., bad temper — "Seditions," i.e., divisions. All who are really Christ's (v. 24) crucify this indwelling principle of evil, and in the power of the Holy Spirit wage incessant warfare against it. Those who are only Christians mentally, know nothing of this warfare. PP 1 of 2 Commentary Galatians 5:16-26continued

228 Class handouts #12 Verse 25 should read as in the Revised Version. It declares both life and holiness to be the work of the One Holy Spirit. He operates salvation and He operates sanctification. Both are realized on the principle of faith. Many know that they have received spiritual life through faith, but they think they can only secure sanctification by works. This is a great error. It never brings victory. Believing in Christ for sanctification as well as for justification introduces into a life of power and victory. It is impossible for a cripple by personal efforts and resolutions to climb a steep mountain to the summit of which runs a steam-coach. If in faith he commits himself to it he will make the experience of a power which can bring him to the highest point. As righteousness is not founded on law obedience so holiness is not secured by carnal efforts to reach that obedience. Holiness is only produced by the energy of the Divine life in the soul, and not by the activity of the human will in the body. See note on Col ii. 23. There is no difficulty in judging between the works of the fallen nature and the fruit of the Spirit. They are manifest.   The strength for holiness is lodged in the new nature. The Law does not give the Spirit. Pretensions to law-observance produce pride, provocation, and envying (v. 26). PP 2 of 2 Continued from previous slide

229 Class handouts #12A - Berean Bible Society - https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org - The Holy Spirit And The Believer Today Posted By Pastor Cornelius R. Stam On December 6, 2011 @ 4:00 am In Two Minutes With the Bible Grace and faith are the characteristic features of the present dispensation. Not only is salvation now declared to be by grace, through faith, but the Spirit also operates in the believer by grace, through faith. He does not take possession of us and cause us to do what is right, but dwells within each believer (I Cor. 6:19) to provide needed guidance and the strength to withstand temptation , and we may avail ourselves of this provision by faith. The Spirit, Who first imparted life to us will also impart strength to withstand temptation and overcome sin. In our inability to even pray as we ought, “the Spirit… helpeth our infirmities” and “ maketh intercession for us” (Rom. 8:26). In our weakness we are “strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man” (Eph. 3:16) and God even stoops to “quicken [our] mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in us” (Rom. 8:11). “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh” (Ver. 12).The implication from the above passage is that though sorely tempted we are debtors to the Spirit who dwells within and provides overcoming power. The question, in times of temptation, is generally whether we truly desire to overcome, for we may overcome in any given case by grace, through faith. In the present dispensation it is not true that it is not possible for the believer to sin, but it is blessedly true that in any situation it is possible for him not to sin, for the Spirit is always there to help.

The Mystery 230 Here is the thirty first post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. We will now move to number 16, (“The Mystery a full and complete revelation”) of the unsearchable riches of Christ revealed in the Mystery. The “Revelation of the Mystery” was given after the death, resurrection and ascension back to heaven’s glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. The mystery revelation was given from the vantage point of looking back on the finished work of the cross. This is unlike all previous revelations which looked forward to the coming of the suffering servant of OT prophecy. The gospel, the good news, of the mystery is that God is satisfied that the penalty for sin was/is paid in full by Christ’s blood shed at the cross of Calvary. Therefore God is not imputing the trespasses of the unsaved so that people by faith will also accept Christ’s sin payment (Christ’s death, burial and resurrection) and turn to the all loving God. This vantage point makes the mystery revelation the most complete all encompassing message in God’s Holy Book. We Ambassadors of Christ can truly say, “we preach the fullness of the Gospel of Christ” !God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker The ministry of the Holy Spirit is evident and active in the life of the members of the Body of C hrist beginning with our regeneration, through our Christian walk and into eternity. 231 It stands to reason that we believers would gladly heed God’s warning; “grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption”. The “day of redemption” is the coming of the Lord in the air to take the Body of Christ into heaven. The ‘Mystery’ is the last revelation given but is it complete in and of it’s self? Post #31

The Mystery 235 Here is the thirty second post of the “Revelation of the Mystery” Bible study series. This post will conclude ‘the Mystery’ series. We began this study with this question. “The Revelation of the Mystery”, what is it, is it Biblical, is it important? From the word of God we learned the Mystery Revelation reveals God’s secret purpose in Christ. We learned the Mystery is most definitely Biblical, thirteen books of the Bible (Romans – Philemon) are dedicated to this revelation from God. We learned the Mystery is a complete all encompassing revelation covering an entire dispensation spanning 2,000+ years and beyond in God’s plan for the Ages. We learned to know and trust the Lord Jesus Christ “ according to the Revelation of the Mystery” which is unique from all revelations God gave concerning Christ before it. This is what the Bible means when it says the Revelation of the Mystery was kept secret from all past generations but is now revealed. This post will address the last part of our question. “The Revelation of the Mystery”, is it important?God bless you as we study about and from the Revelation of the Mystery. Please open your Bible KJV and study each verse referenced in the study guide. Sincerely in Christ, Dave

The Thinker Ok. The ‘Revelation of the Mystery’ contains the fullness of the Gospel or the fullness of God’s good news that He has revealed. 236 The Lord Jesus Christ is the all in all of the Mystery revelation and we are now to know Christ, embrace Christ and preach Christ according to the Mystery revelation. The Mystery must be a mighty important revelation! Post #32

243 Handout #2 Commentary 2Corinthians 5:17-18 Commentary 2 Corinthians 5:17-18. There are 2 things we can get from a verse of Scripture: a doctrinal meaning, and a practical application from that meaning. There is a strong contrast in verse 17 between what 'passed away' and what 'has become' new. The meaning of this contrast is that the old things which have passed away were the teachings of Israel under the Old Covenant (Judaism), and God's program for Israel. At the time of 2 Corinthians, the Nation of Israel was on a steep decline which culminated in their being temporarily set aside at Acts 28. That which has become new is the 'new Arrangement' (2 Cor. 3:6 - the Mystery) revealed to Paul. The contrasts of the third chapter of 2 Corinthians is vitally related to 2 Cor. 5:17, and helps us to understand this verse. The practical application is that when one becomes saved, the things of the old life gradually pass away, and the things of the new life gradually come in and take the place of the old things. This is the way it was with Israel during the Acts period, and this is the way it happens with all of God's children. Our new life in Christ, our growth in Christ, is a gradual thing. The first part of verse 18 is a real encouragement for the believer. The use of 'the all things ', which refers to the Mystery , shows that the truth given to Paul is from God. This statement of fact really makes us strong in the Lord and in His grace.Reconciliation, verse 18. The ministry of reconciliation is unique to this Dispensation of grace. This is because reconciliation can only be preached when there is total alienation from God. During our Lord's ministry on earth, He did not preach (continued)

244 (Continued) reconciliation to Israel because Israel was not alienated from God at that time, (even though the Gentiles had been alienated from God for many centuries ). God was walking around in their midst in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. But when- Israel rejected the Holy Spirit through Stephen's ministry, as recorded in Acts 7, then alienation began to take place in regards to Israel (Rem. 11:15); Paul was saved, and shortly this message could be preached to all. What does 'reconciliation' mean? Paul was the only writer to use 3 Greek words that tell us what 'reconciliation' is. The 3 Greek words consist of 1 noun, KATALLAGE, and 2 verbs, KATALLASSO, and a strengthened form, AP0KATALLASS0. All 3 words basically mean 'change, exchange, reconcile'. The verb that begins with APO also means 'to completely change'. These meanings imply a 're-connection' between God and the one who believes . These Greek words are used in 4 ways: in relation to marriage - 1 Cor. 7:11in relation to the whole world, showing that God has 'changed' the world in relation to Him. This doesn't mean that everyone is going to be saved, but only that members of the human race can now be saved by the gospel of Christ if they hear it and believe it (Rom.11:15; 2Cor.5:18)in relation to those who are saved, that they have been totally, completely, radically changed by the death of Christ (Eph. 2:16; Col. 1:20,21; Ron. 5:10,11; 2 Cor. 5:18)in relation to our commission. The life changing message of reconciliation has been committed to the Body of Christ to proclaim to the world (2 Cor. 5:18,19). God will accept no other message. (continued)

245 (Continued) One other fact needs to be mentioned. The Gospel of the Kingdom that was preached by the 12 Apostles and by the Lord Himself is not a gospel of reconciliation. While that gospel was being proclaimed, Israel was not alienated from God. (The one place where the Greek word DIALLASS0 is used, Matt. 5:24, refers to mutual hostility on the part of man against man. God and man is not in view in that verse). This is just one more reason why the Gospel of the Kingdom is not God's message for today, and why Gal. 1:6-9 is so strong against it. By Robert C. Brock

250 A personal note: it was Peter’s verse here quoted that caused me to want to really know about Paul’s Epistles. What special God inspired “wisdom” given to Paul about the Lord’s suffering that related to salvation did Peter now rely on? What “wisdom” had God given Paul that Christ’s chief Apostle could learn from? What God inspired “wisdom” is contained in Paul’s epistles that the man who personally experienced most all Christ did and said during His earthly ministry would find hard to be understood? What is there about the 13 Epistles Paul wrote that a person who is “unlearned” and “unstable” concerning them my “wrest” them to their own destruction. The dictionary defines “wrest” as : a. To distort or twist the nature or meaning of: wrested the words out of context. b. To divert to an improper use; misapply. The Bible study titled “The Mystery” that we are three weeks into of an eight or nine week home Bible study series is the result of the haunting questions above.

260 The Mystery In Eph. 3:1-3 “the dispensation of the grace of God” is specifically called “the mystery” (i.e., secret). It is thus designated for two reasons: 1.  It had been “kept secret since the world began, but now,” through Paul, had been “made manifest” (Rom. 16:25). “In other ages” it was “not made known” (Eph. 3:5). Rather, “from the beginning of the world” it had been “hid in God” (Ver. 9), “hid from ages and from generations, but now… made manifest to His saints” (Col. 1:26). 2.  It was at the same time the explanation, the key, to all God’s good news, including that which had been proclaimed in ages past. It explained how it was that Abel could be declared righteous by bringing an animal sacrifice, “God testifying of his gifts” (Heb. 11:4), how Noah could become “an heir of… righteousness” by building an ark (Heb. 11:7), how anyone could be saved under the dispensation of the Law, and how it is that we can be saved today by grace through faith alone. Thus we have in Paul’s epistles, not only the gospel [good news] of “the secret” (Eph. 3:1-3), but at the same time, “the secret of the gospel” (Eph. 6:19,20). This great secret, revealed to and through Paul, has rightly been called the capstone of divine revelation, for it concerns God’s eternal purpose in Christ. Through Paul, the chief of sinners saved by grace, God has now made this glorious secret known to us (Eph. 1:9) that we, in turn, might make it known to others (Eph. 3:9). 261 December 20, 2009   Teachers note:   The King James Version of the Holy Bible is used exclusively throughout this study and is my preferred translation for study of the Scriptures.   Appreciation is extended to Robert C. Brock for his wisdom and insight expressed in the many quotations used in this study and for the general outline taken from his book The Essence of Christianity - The Revelation of the Mystery pages A1-A15 . Heartfelt gratitude goes out to those brave souls who have set tradition aside in favor of an exegetical reading of the Bible “rightly divided.” These Bible teachers and writers daily bless my life.
