BIOGRAPHY for the Honorable Henry M. Cagey, Chairman of the Lummi Nation Henry M. Cagey is a member of the Lummi Nation, who has lived on the reservation for his entire life. He was born on February 21, 1960 in Bellingham, Washington. He is the son of J ack and Beverly Cagey who also live on the Reservation. Henry is a veteran of the US Navy, 1979 - 1982 on the U.S.S. Constellation. Shortly after his honorable discharge he met and married Yvonne. They have been married for twenty - nine (29 ) years. Togeth er, they have three (3) daughters Amber, Christine and Hillary and now they have two grandsons Noah Henry Cagey and Andrew Logan Little. After the Navy, Lummi Nation in a variety of positions including Fisheries Enforcement, TERO Director, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Economic Development Director employed Henry. Starting in 1990 Henry was Chairman for nine (9) straight years for the Lummi Nation. He supervised the transition of Lummi Nation to a Self - governance Tribe. He took several years to pursue other interests and on February 5 th of 2008 he was re - elected to another term as Chairman. Henry also served as a Governing Board member for the United Indian Of All Tribes Foundation located in Seattle. He has worked with the organization fo r sixteen (16) years. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Tribal Development Association for nine (9) years and currently serves as their Board President. In 2008 he became the Chairman for the SAMHSA Tribal Advisory Group and a membe r of the Tribal Justice Advisory Group, Northwest Region Representative Alternate
