He layed awake, eagerly waiting for Grendel to attack Herot again. Soon, Grendel emerged from his marsh, and trudged towards the hall. His eyes feasted upon the sight of seeing the halls filled with soldiers. His belly would soon be filled with a hot meal but, what he didn’t realize is that this would be his last meal. As he moved through the hall, he killed the first soldier he saw, by ripping him to shreds. As he slithered to kill the next body, something quickly snatched his claws and bent them backwards. For he had grabbed onto Beowulf. He tried desperately to break free from the grip of Beowulf but he couldn’t do it. Grendel wanted to retreat, and never come back to Herot. This was a much different place than before. He had never met anyone who was stronger than him. Grendel fought Beowulf for his freedom all up and down the hall. The walls of the Herot were being shaken up and down as the fighting went on. Men were hitting the walls, blood was being spattered.
