1. Introduction

Laos is a country, land locked with Population 6 million habitants in

First Population Census was conducted in 1985, there were 3.6 mil. Habitants,

Second in 1995 (4.6 mil. Habitants)

and the last census in 2005( 5.6 mil. Habitants).

2. Methodology for censuses

.

Actually population census is conducted in 2 methods: De Jure Census and De facto Census. For Laos we use the De Jure method.Slide3

3. Demographic method

Vital registration too poor, especially in rural , mountainous and ethnicity areas.

Use indirect method- actuarial method, child ever born of age-specific fertility rate.Slide4

- limited financial budget.

- no capacity and staff, we have only one staff for population and one for labor so just concentrate on the census.Slide6
