Press Release Haryana Tourism 1 st December, 2013 Revelries mark culmination of Pinjore Heritage Fest Shri Kuldip Sharma, Speaker, Haryana, drew curtains on the 8th Pinjore Heritage Festival at Pinjore Gardens on Sunday . Shri Chakrvrty Sharma, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation and Shri Vijai Vardhan, Principal Secretary, Tourism, Haryana also graced the occasion. The major attraction of the evening, f usion music duo Hari & Sukhmani , enthralled the audience by blending folk Punjabi songs with techno music. Fervour and excitement marked the concluding day of the 8th Pinjore Heritage Festival as the young and old, both, reached the Pinjore Gardens in droves on a bright Sunday. The Fest ival promised to be a good outing as vibrant cultural programmes and folk dances kept the entertainment quotient high. Mrs Sumita Misra, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism, stated that the turnout of the Festival was quite good this time, which proves that this calendar event of Haryana Tourism has found acceptance among people. Students from various schools gave pulsating folk dance performances on stage in the cultural event competition while the drawing competition saw school children depict different s cenes of the Pinjore Heritage Festival in an impressive way. They were adjudged in two categories – junior and senior. Showstoppers of the day were the senior citizens, special invitees of the two - day 8th Pinjore Heritage Festival, who took part in the Her itage Walk. In their mid seventies, Usha Sharma and Parkash Ahluwa lia exhibited lot of stamina and energy as they shook their legs on stage to a foot tapping movie number lungi dance . Later an antakshari competition was also organized for the senior citize ns. “This is a fantastic event, and we really enjoyed the performances and other attractions. We look forward to come back to this event next year,” says Surinder Kaur, a senior citizen. The artistes of Northern Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC), Allaha bad captivated audience with acts like Brij ki Holi, Manipuri dances and Badhai from Madhya Pradesh that lent a cultural flavour to the Festival. There were also visitors from Nepal , Mumbai and foreigners who came to the Festival and enjoyed savouring mouth - watering dishes at the Food Court. Chokhi Dhani had set up a stall that had authentic Rajasthani dishes like dal bhatti churma and gatte ki sabzi for the visitors. Also the street food being offered by the Institutes of Hotel Management from Haryana was a popular choice. The Crafts Bazaar was another crowd puller, as people got to shop from an array of pocket - friendly handlooms and handicraft stalls set up at the Festival. A visitor to the fest, Anupama Sharma, tells, “This Festival offers everything in the name of entertainment from cultural performances to interesting shopping options and tasty food.” RESULTS D rawing competition Junior group 1.
