1. The general composition of the population:

A) 65 000 inhabitants.

Economy: 1763-1800

Fur Trade: The economy is still based on furs. Still the main source for immigration.

1. Changes after the Conquest:

A) French fur trade merchants are replaced by British ones

B( Territory expands Northwest and now includes areas around the Hudson’s Bay and the Great Lakes.

C) New fur trade companies: Hudson’s Bay Company, Northwest Company

D) More trading posts develop.

E) Resource (animals) is eventually EXHAUSTED (not enough).Slide4

A) 1760: Military governor of Quebec

1763: Governor of Quebec

B) He is VERY unique because he

did not like

Royal Proclamation, even though he was British.

C) He supported the

habitants
