What is most important in your life?
Money, career, honor, degree, human love?
It is life, a spiritual life.
“What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mk 8:36-37)
To have a spiritual life, you must be born again.Slide2
Nicodemus
A man of the Pharisees.
A member of the Jewish ruling council.
Humanly he achieved everything and had everything.
But he lacked something; a big emptiness in his heart.
He came to Jesus at night.Slide3
“No one can see the kingdom of God unless his born again.”
He lacked a spiritual life; he was not born again.
He could not see the kingdom of God.
To see the kingdom of God, he had to be born again.Slide4
What does it mean to be born again?
It means “to be born from above” or “to be born anew.”
To be born means to be born spiritually.
It is a secret act of God in which he imparts new spiritual life.
He becomes a new creation and a child of God.
He sees and experiences the kingdom of God.Slide5
The Results of Being Born Again
A
heartfelt trusting in Christ for salvation,
An
assurance of sins forgiven,
A desire
to read the Bible and pray and a sense that these are meaningful spiritual activities,
A delight
in worship,
A desire
for Christian fellowship,
A sincere
desire to be obedient to God’s
word,
A
desire to tell others about Christ. Slide6
How Can A Man Be Born Again?He must be born of water
and the Spirit. (many explanations)
Water refers to “physical birth” and the Spirit to spiritual birth.
Water means the water of Christian baptism.
Water refers to cleansing; the Spirit to power.
Water refers to the Spirit.
Water refers to the word of God and the Spirit to the Holy Spirit.Slide7
How does the Holy Spirit Work in Us?
Many
terrible sinners have been changed into men and women of God by the Spirit.
A
sorrowful woman becomes a woman who joyfully serves the Lord.
A
despairing man is changed into a man of encouragement.
There
is undeniable evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work in and among us. Slide8
Look and Live!
God
told Moses to make a bronze snake and hang it on top of a pole. Anyone who looks up the snake would live, God promised. This was God’s way of salvation for them.
Looking up a bronze snake on a pole did not make sense. However, whoever looked up the bronze snake lived, while those who looked down the live snakes perished.
We must have faith that believes the promise of God. To have faith in God may not be logical, but it results in wonderful healing and salvation. Slide9
Conclusion
The bronze snake on the pole symbolizes Jesus who was hung on a cross.
Jesus
was crucified on the cross, as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
God
promised that anyone who looks up this Jesus would be saved.
Anyone who accepts Jesus as Savior and Lord
can have eternal life.
May the Holy Spirit help us to accept God’s word so that we may be born again and see the kingdom of God!Slide10
