We were therefore
buried
with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was
raised

Pet. 3:18-21 –
“… And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also – not the removal of dirt from the body,
but the pledge of a good conscience towards God
. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
Slide5Why full immersion?
The Greek word for ‘baptism’ is ‘
baptizo
’ which means
‘to dip’
or
‘immerse’
. The word was originally used to describe the immersion of a cloth in a dye.
Only
full immersion can properly symbolise burial (i.e. a watery grave) (See Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12).

To the heavenlies (declaring our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
To
the
Church
(that we have become members of His Body)
To
the
world
(that we are dead to the world and its appeal)
To
the
devil
(that we are no longer his, having sided with God and been ‘translated’ into the Kingdom of Light, the Kingdom of His Son – Colossians 1:13)
In
water baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
