At least one parent and one godparent must be a baptized,practicing Catholic.at happens next?reparation SessionThe family mom, dad and children and godparents, if possibile, attend agroup preparation session during which the family learns more about the meaningof Baptism. They also hear other parishioners witness to how they are helpingtheir children to grow as Christians.EnrollmentThe first part of the Rite of Baptism, enrollment, takesplace at the beginning of Sunday Mass. During the rite,parents introduce their child to the Church, state what theyare asking of the church for themselves and their child, andsign the child with the sign of the cross. Finally the priestanoints the child on the breast with the Oil of Catechmens.BaptismThe baptismal rite is completed a few weeks after the enrollment at a SundayMass. Gesu follows the Churchs suggestion to celebrate all Baptisms byimmersion.Community InvolvementWe baptize infants at Sunday Mass because Baptism means that a child is born into thelarger family of the church.
